User Contributed Tweaks

I use a program called NLoam from virtual tech to create me little exe programs to do the installation of things. It can take ANY thing and create a exe of it. It's free but I don't think the creator is around anymore. I have a copy of version 1 and 1.2. Some little programs don't work today anymore but through manipulation they still do. I took version 1's dll and added it to version 1.2 and it still works for me.....then I add it to windows pre-setup load
Any possibility of a dropbox link for it.

Rename the nloam.txt to nloam.exe

You can either run the exe or extract it, read the bat file and manually copy it to the install location. If you manually copy it then DO NOT RUN THE EXE file. It will overwrite the nloam.exe with a newer version then it will not work on windows 10. NOTE: It need to be in that location as in the bat file. You will also need the reg file.

Couple of rules.
Don't re-wrap the same file if you extracted it if "batchrunner.exe" is still in the folder....it will give an error and fail to create the exe file. Just delete "Batchrunner.exe" in the folder where you want to create the files from.
You need 7zip and Winrar installed since it use their engine's to wrap the exe's.
When you've wrapped it-it saves it as a rar file. Open it and drag the exe to your desktop or other place.
Use a virtual at first when playing with it since if you run something on your machine and it screws up you can always redo the virtual.
I have found that some times my antivirus pick up that the batchrunner is malicious script but only because it handles the executable of the file. It handles the extraction and install and that some anti-viruses don't like.....but it is NOT a virus.
If it doesn't work let me know then I send you links for the original version 1
With big files......be patient.....it is working don't stop it.....it WILL screw up the wrap and can screw up the source of files.
I use a bat file to handle my executable simply because I use the silent install key's....it works better for me, I don't use the nloam silent key's because the list doesn't include what I use. Nloam has a list of silent install commands but I use my own list

You need some detail on the exe's to run them in their silent command's. Those you can get from google. It is best to run .msi files or you can just run it from DOS.........meaning you run it like bla.exe /? or bla.exe ?. The file should give you an indication of it's silent install key's. I've found it much better to use the key's because then you can install without any user interaction.....they can screw up your install if you run them after first reboot with user interaction since it will wait for you to do your input and most of the time I've found the interaction is hidden then you are stuck on a new install. My machine is totally free of user interaction except for hard drive selection on first install and it stops when everything is done and in it's place. It took me years to perfect it...........only to use it once or twice a year.......ironic.

W8.1-Tweak-Pack-1D-2019-11-28.zip uploaded. Changed pack name to reflect the change to a .zip file, no other changes have been made and it is the same as earlier pack 1c.

Added link for Ghetto Mods thread on Interesting Things page. Not a tweak so its off topic but worth sharing, full of diy mods/kludges and i love a kludge :D :cool:

I found a website for disabling the Win 10 Windows Search Bar from using Bing when on line. (The test is to type 'insta' and see if "Instagram" pops up in your search results. (Assuming that you don't have Instagram installed on your computer.))

This is for 1903 and requires two reg hacks.

Update: I found that, in Admin, these hacks were here, probably due to disabling Cortona via NTLite Privacy Settings. However, in my User Account, I had to add the BingSearchEanbled key.

Maybe Clanger has this somewhere in her tweaks.

These are the 3 i use on LTSC and i find they are enough to silence Search and Indexing. Might need revising. LTSC-TWEAK-PACK-2019-11-14 - LTSC-DISABLE-SEARCH-INDEXING-CORTANA-V2. If i am correct abbodi86 says LTSC(or was it B) only has partial cortana anyway, the rest of it is disabled in policies, i think. Disabling Search and Indexing gives noticable gains.
Code:
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\ControlSet001\Services\WSearch]
"Start"=dword:00000004
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\ControlSet001\Services\WSearchIdxPi]
"Start"=dword:00000004
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Policies\Microsoft\Windows\Windows Search]
"AllowCortana"=dword:00000000

Safe to add either during setup or mounted image i think, may need to be elevated?, i bin doing after 1st logon, vewwy rusty :(
This tweak may not be for everyone.

I need to load an offline registry for ControlSet001-Services and CurrentControlSet-Services, what file do i need to load? :)

ControlSet001= CurrentControlSet (online)
ControlSet002=Not sure if default for new user accounts or last good known reg

i filtered the tweaks from
to which tweaks that reduce handles
almost 5k handles removed from already tweaked OS (Win10 2004.208)

however its need more filtering, will update it soon
