Let's talk :)

My goal was post-setup improvements, like supporting adding folders as installers, having progress at the end of setup as items are executed, and choice if an item is installed before all users or after the first logon.

But before investing that much time, let's see if it's what you would want. Feel free to add a comment if your favorite item is not listed in the poll.

Thanks.

Damn having 1 vote only, i went for removals, obviously. Reading directly from a cd/dvd as nLite could but also from an iso mounted in a virtual optical drive. Save the working folder as it is now but ask if we want to copy that to usb too and make the usb key bootable. Remove the WOW subsystem for 64bit only users. As chriswayg pointed out, most internet bogies are 32bit, and it means less vulnerabilities too. :)

Here is my list, starting with the most important:

- multi-edition processing at the same time, if on the same image for now (Perhaps if it does not go otherwise the possibility NTLite 2x to start)
- ability to add ISO to the Source page, at least prompt to auto-extract to some Folder
- auto-update tool (alpha/beta/release)
- post-setup utility, ability to choose to execute installers on first logon and see progress, ignore errors, using XML instead of CMD file - command-line support to execute presets on an Image
- Windows Updates listing and download

Special Thanks Dino!

Re post above. Have Compatibility option for Windows Firewall. Use Windows Firewall Control with it(it needs .net462), remove WOW system, bareboned with networking preset built into NTLite would make for a very secure W7 system for internet use.

Copy portable programs folders to the mounted image, use the folders from host and copy them to the same location on the mounted image.

@Clanger, noted, but unless it's a priority for you no need to add to the list, right?
Copying portable programs would be under the Post-setup improvements (Add folder support).

Nuhi, add portables to Post-setup improvements (Add folder support)? yeah great. So much stuff can be run portable, VLC, Firefox and Thunderbird, Sysinternals stuff and loads of tech tools/tweakers. There are only 5 programs i use that need installers, everything else are portable. I would say that is a priority for me. The WOW for secure internet machine, WOW is 400mb in w7 bareboned. Nice to have, see what others think. :)

Expanding on @Cartman586's post, the ability to defer items that are only removable in live mode to said first-logon utility, which would then automatically reboot the system.

Wouldnt you need NTLite in the actual image/wim(or post setup) to do that? And depending on the target machine, you may run in free mode only because of the activation/license of the host machine.

I'm talking about a utility that would be executed via SetupComplete.cmd (or RunOnceEx if desired) that would only remove those components that are selected are removal and are only removable in live mode.

NTLite is the utility because it uses its own removal engine, not dism, so ntlite would have to be onthe install. I Nuhi starts adding a custom live removal utility that it is possible to hack/customise then they wont have to buy a license.

I'm talking about a command-line only utility that would execute from the $oem$ directory and require the license.dat file be present, and that would be automatically deleted when it reboots. Additionally, as said earlier, would be able to only remove those components that are only removable in live mode.

It would use the same authentication/checksum method that the main NTlite uses for offline activation (where you save the license.dat and activate with clean install and it says zero activations used).

You are limited to the host machine where the license was activated, which is ok for most users i would have thought, but it is still open to abuse. I want to read what Nuhi thinks.

Add capture(dism)/save then import captured image as a Source? I have only used GImageX for that so far although i know dism is recommended. I do remember someone(i forget who) recently mentioning expanding DISM use in NTLite :).

GImageX and DISMGUI both need .NET X, NTLite doesnt and the command line and i dont get on :(.

Windows 8.1 (or old operating systems support)
More removals:
1- Services: Sample :COM Surrogate COMSysApp
2- Component Sample: Directx files ... etc.
3- (*.sys) drivers Sample: "C:\Windows\system32\drivers"\ws2ifsl.sys (not video card or sound card drivers etc.)

Thank you for your interest
Thanks for asking
THANKS FOR NTLITE AND NLITE (AND VLITE)
Thanks for everything

I would like to see improved post-installation phase. I think what adding compatibility to WA (Wintookit addons) would be good, as it allows to create custom installers. Contact me in private if you want more details about this.

What about Capture offline image from VHD(x)/VMDK/VDI/HDD? Many of us do all sorts of testing in a VM anyway, cut out the GimageX middle man!

I second this, using DISM at command line for capture can be tricky indeed.
