What about a Discord server?

Hi,

What do you think about the idea of a dedicated Discord server for NTLite? I can imagine that it could improve some processes. Especially I think of the common compilation of presets, faster answering of smaller questions, exchange of information of any kind and bring in the form of bug reports, collections of any kind, and also just to bring the community closer together.

Discord is not just a group voice client, nor "the Facebook for gamer", as some call it, (even if it is very popular for them because of the variety of features). Actually, at least in my opinion, it's about bringing a community together, which has its advantages. See for example GitHub as a developer platform. Element, for example, offers too little and has not really arrived in the mainstream.

A forum is wonderful for larger masses of information, but no one really exchanges information about DMs, or often people don't dare to ask anything publicly, or the matter is just so small and trivial that it's simply not worth creating a thread for it. Something like this would fit wonderfully in channels for this. The appearance can also be freely determined.

Since the topic of customizing mainly concerns gamer, it also fits well together.

It's not really hard to set up either. For my part, I can also give a lot of help positions. (However, the permanent "maintain"/administrate/moderate it would me personally, currently, lack of time)

Just in case, people never heard about it:

Best regards.

Yes, would definitely need more moderators and volunteers. Support would also be just unofficial (so community only, and "old horses"). But Discord should not be confused with 4chan etc. There are many companies that offer serious support over it, or large communities that share topics and organize real projects. (Spontaneously I think of OBS, and SCP:SL, - UUP has one too). :)

Unfortunately, many people, especially some younger people are not able to properly manage a server from scratch, or simply have no real theme. That's probably where the wrongly held reputation comes from, that discord servers are just meme trash-endpoints...

The most benefit from it, I see in better workflow for group-projects, like Presets.
With a large community, there are also interested people who can test and report about bugs.

you make the same arguments the OP on the other thread did and we still dont have an ntlite discord. take the hint.

He just brought up the idea, followed by one reason for it: Asking questions in a Video.
Do you allow me to bring my own opinion and arguments to present it to Nuhi and the community? :)

and we still dont have an ntlite discord. take the hint.
Also we still dont have a Windows 10 H21H1 or even a Windows 12, what exactly is the hint?

I don't like video and 'voice chats', nobody can search a word in videos
Well... a Video-Stream is not supposed to be an F.A.Q page.

Maybe have a monthly meeting in " Voice" Discord to meet the community and ask related questions.
Actually, not at bad idea, to be honest. Big player companies, game developer/publisher, Linux-Maintainer and even groups like CCC doing similar or releasing VoDs. In a live-Sequence it is a limited time for introducing any new and few important/related questions. Just a short "real talk", beside of the walls of texts.- However, I see most benefit in simply "connecting" with each other. Generations getting younger and more modern, everyday. I see things growing extreme big over GitHub, for example. Very less keeps alone in just one forum or website, these days.

Just an idea and my few cents to it.

Best regards.

just pointing out it has been asked about before and what the general consensus was.

the amount of disrespect in this, WOW........

for someone who claims they couldn't find something about this anywhere else here, sure has a very good way of copying and pasting from the other bit.

The actual number of "hard core [NTLite] modders" is fairly low. Most users are normies, once they build a working image then they disappear until the next Windows release. The rapid speed of a Discord thread doesn't really suit them.

There's nothing wrong with inviting folks over to Discord. But you should explain what technical or creative expertise this new community brings that doesn't exist here. It's about people -- not the platform. If you attract a base of useful contributors, people will follow it.

and not every NTLiter is a "liter", some will be tweaks only, integration only or system admins.

At the first, thank you for your opinion on this. There is actually no any need for experts-only walls. NTLite is extreme beginner-friendly, with more language improvements it could be even more. Curios people figured to find the Win11 limits-bypass-options very early by their own, for example. Beside of that: Like I wrote before, ("unskilled") people could simple testing things out or bring even more people with knowledge. I know a lot of people who would like the idea of an actual community and even could contribute as well.

Unfortunately this here seems to be the wrong place to ask for more of them. I not expected that. Nuhi is complete alone with that and to be honest, I feel sorry for him. I' don't like to say it, but I'm pretty sure this forum will also die soon or later, like similar did and does. I will contact people of interest on other way, instead. It is sad that some people never will grow up, but I see the point: After all, to avoid them is for the best.

I mean, I just came in and directly a stereotype-troll and his co-bully welcomed me....

No way.

i'm sorry, did i just read this right ??

someone came in here with an attitude problem making expectations..

just because someone has a different opinion and you don't like it, doesn't mean that they are , as you put it , " a stereotype-troll " and as for "co-bully" , i'm sorry but i believe you are misinformed

the only person who need to grow up, isn't someone who has been here a while, but the person who has come in and throws a tantrum for not getting what they want.

People can debate and have opinions, but opinions are like a**holes, everybody has one. just because you don't agree with it, doesn't mean that person is wrong, or you are wrong. it is a debatable thing. IF you are unwilling, then i believe the mirror is calling for you to have a good hard long look

i havnt got the time or wherewithal to post any further as i have a job to do and which i will be sharing on this forum for members and non members.
