Trying to get Windows 7 working on ASUS X570 ROG Crosshair Extreme

Confirmed X570 Chipset drivers are available (for now) from AMD directly under the X470 selection. working on other drivers for 10gb Ethernet, usb etc.

Update, SDI snappy Driver installer found most of the drivers. Still missing the ones for both Ethernet Ports.

PCI\VEN_8086&DEV_2725&SUBSYS_00248086&REV_1A

PCI\VEN_8086&DEV_1137&SUBSYS_00008086&REV_00

Nvida driver is crashing with an error 12 not enough resources to run ? So it's still a work in progress.

Update: There seems to be some kind of virtualization going on when the windows 7 is installed in Uefi mode, windows 7 runs sort of but things don't work as expected. a known good video card and driver and operating system combination doesn't work. the video card and several other drivers crash, access to system level settings doesn't seem to work as expected things like resizing the system partition (normally possible with a tool, results in a blue-screen instantly) it feels like it's running in some kind of virtual box. I'm going to keep trying to figure out and get past the crashes in CSM mode, if anyone has any suggestions or info as to what's going on with the Uefi please do let me know.

Update

I spoke to asus directly and this is what they told me.

1) Compatibility BIOS is not really "compatible" with older hardware expected by the Windows 7 "Hardware Abstraction Layer" (HAL).
2) Windows 7 does NOT support TPM 2.0, which this board uses to encrypt and verify "ALL" onboard hardware peripherals.
3) Ergo, Windows 7 will simply not install nor run over compatibility BIOS.
4) Minimum requirement is Windows 8.1 which is TPM 2.0 compatible.
—-
5) The TPM chip cannot be disabled.
6) It is unlikely that the board will function at all, if it is physically removed.
7) The TPM contains the physical address pointers to hardware, interrupt vectors and mandatory crypto keys.
8) The TPM chip is clearly marked on the board, but ANY tampering voids warranty an end phone suport.

9) In UEFI mode, the BIOS is smart enough to configure the hardware and get beyond the TPM 2.0 issue.
10) The system will install and boot Win 7, but ...
11) All hardware depending on TPM will NOT run fully or correctly in Win 7.
12) Ergo nVIDIA issue, the windows HAL is not detecting the card correctly BECAUSE of TPM-2

I don't think this is correct but I'm looking into it more anyone got any idea's also I'm pretty sure I saw some TPM 2.0 enabling posts on the forms for windows 7 using a backported Windows 8.1 driver but can't find them now

They take that treacherous platform module and shove where the sun don't shine I have no interest in using it prefer having it disabled if at all possible, I just want my system to boot.

...I spoke to asus directly and this is what they told me...
I just bought a cheap HP Stream 11 laptop on sale for $120 because I needed a troubleshooting Windows PC, and I can disable TPM in the bios. It *can* be done easily in a bios update on your board too, asus just doesn't want to deal with it. I can understand this to some degree though, eventually everything has to move forward, and sometimes that direction is out of the hands of manufacturers, since it's usually dictated by Microsoft, Intel, and Nvidia. This is why I moved on from XP last year, it just got to be too hard to circumvent all the issues. Too many companies started forcibly making stuff obsolete in newer software/driver updates--not necessarily because they had to, but because they wanted to.

Update: sorry it's been so long. I was successful at getting windows 7 fully operational, using the testing image I was working with. I managed to find drivers for everything except the WIFI, the 10GB ethernet, (I'll be phoning the manufacturer to see if there is any way of getting it working) and the Thunderbolt drivers. (Both the WIFI and Thunderbolt are intel so there probably won't be much luck there unless I can find a hacked and/or backported driver somewhere) the 2.5 GB ethernet port works so it's good enough for now.

The NVidia videocard driver issues I reported earlier seems to have fixed itself with a BIOS update that wasn't available at the time of writing.
The windows 7 system presently works fully in UFEI (and yes it is worlds faster than windows10 on the same hardware.)

Happy Valentines day guys.

The Bios Update also resolved the systems inability to reboot properly from any version of windows. (without manually pushing the power off button )

oh man, really want to get win7 working on this board.

Would you be kind enough to link to drivers you used please ?

read post #29 for further guidance, but as 7 is EOL , and no further support is available, you may have to bite the bullet and settle with 10

Cannot do 10.

besides the privacy uissues, they messed up the location of so many things and made 10 annoying/frustrating to use.

you will get privacy issues regardless of whatever windows you use. If you are doing the location thing through ntlite, then it is not a windows thing, its a user thing.

seeing all support for 7 has ceased and 8 / 8.1 regarding security updates etc stopped January this year, the only options are to follow the links posted in the post i highlighted, or go with 10 or 11.
