GamerOS Windows 10 & 11 DIY Preset

Deleting these keys in bulk is very harmful IMO. You lose the possibility of troubleshooting if something goes wrong. And with lited installs especially, many things can go wrong (and you can find hints in event logs).

Instead, I set all dword values EnableLevel=3 in WMI\Autologger\*\* subkeys (that's to show only errors+warnings, which quiets them down considerably), and of course start=0 to those loggers that are not needed (nearly all of them excluding event logs).

Loosely related, I set all ErrorControl dwords in services to 0 or 1 (silent or warning during the start of service if something goes wrong). In practice, I edit all values higher than 1 to 1, and leave 0s and 1s alone.

I delete (edit) some unwanted dependencies of a service to services that are non-existent (lited) or disabled/deleted by myself (always delete a service with sc delete - that's how I learnt in the old days :)). But with care, some services really can't start without their dependencies.

For network icon I use this - the windows' built-in icon is useless after Vista because it doesn't show the real traffic. And of course, because of the privacy concerns with probing.
I know the risks but 95 percent of the time I get an issue it's because of me mucking around too much. That is why I have system restores

If you did, you woudn't have a way of knowing, would you?
oh yes i bleeding well woulkd know because windows would through a fit or this or that wouldnt work and so far i havnt seen anything.
its all about experimentation and testing. you dont know my needs and im telling you i can go a lot further than everyone else here, be it tweaks or removals.

what should i do? share what i find in the true forum spirit(put back some of what i have learned from forums over the years) or say eff it and screw you lot and keep it all to myself eh?

I will have to try it and see how my movie clips/game react to the removal. Usually I see something there if it makes things worse. After that a latency test and if it all passes then it should be good to go.

Will give it a backup and test tonight.

Hello! I need a german keyboard layout! Could someone tell me pls how i add it with ntlite? Can I also use this config for daily use? A bit of Youtube, Internet surfing and checking mails?
Cheers

Keyboard Language's are listed in the preset as kl-000000 either remove it from preset, or install the language pack from the office catalogs and add just as you would updating the image, updated gameros presets coming out soon (windows 10 is pretty much done and ready to be released, but windows 11 i get this issue where the audio is no longer adjustable with the volume slider so that will either take me time to research what is causing this or ask for help) Ive recently updated my license so I've got access to all the new features

Does anyone know if this edit works well with Genshin impact? i mean if there is something that will get me banned because of some changes in system. i run genshin on a debloated windows using debloat scripts and etc. but this is nothing compared to using some script from github.

Genshin goes with in game hacks to ban, i doubt the OS will cause an issue

Can anyone help me? I'm trying to do this with the windows 11 version. But when I did it it still came out with 140 process running. Any help? I've followed every step.

Good afternoon community. I'm new, I just bought the ntlite license. I have an Aorus 15P laptop with the following characteristics:

  • i7 11800H
  • 16GB DDR4-RAM
  • 3080 8GB

I'm a hardcore CSGO and Valorant player, I'm going to install Windows 11 with the files attached Txmmy and tell you how the performance is.

Benchmarks
Windows 10 without tweaks:
350
Project Nobara: 655 FPS (Linux)
Windows 11: To be defined

I hope that being a laptop, this does not bring me problems with Bluetooth devices, and also Wifi sensors.

Greetings.

Update:

Yesterday I installed Windows 10 with the .xml file and the errors present were:
Do not bring any web browser, this makes things quite complicated, at least leave Edge, which does not consume anything.

The search bar below stopped working.

The keyboard language is pre-defined as English despite changing it to "Spanish".

The taskbar on the right is gone, this is functional, for people with 2 monitors or more to see notifications.

Being able to search for files doesn't work either, you can be a gamer, but this is important.

The Windows store is disabled, this brings errors with applications that require the App Store to be installed, denying access to new applications.

ZeDfriT, benchmarks are always great to see, I look forward to your final results.

You wrote "350" for Windows 10 without tweaks, but using what program? The number is meaningless to us without that info at the moment :)

I can all but guarantee your laptop will bring you problems unfortunately. There is a lot of throttling that goes on, some of which you cannot control on a laptop. They aren't gaming devices, and the ones that are marketed as such, are just that--marketing. Run something like LatencyMon and check out those results for important benchmarking aspects. You should really invest in a cooling pad too, because laptops have poor cooling for gaming. Thermaltake makes a good one that I've tried.

As far as stuff breaking, that is expected. Removing components will cause various things to break. This preset removes a lot, and so you can expect a lot to break. Windows wasn't built with removals in mind, it's not modular. And so when you build a preset it takes a lot of trial and error to get it "right" for each individual user. That's not saying anything negative about this preset, a lot of people are okay with certain things breaking because they don't use those things. If you want to remedy those you have to untick certain components from the preset. Xbox and Microsoft Store get broken in a lot of presets for example since their components are removed, but you can uncheck those if you need them.

350 fps in csgo BenchMark map by Ulletical.

655 fps aprox in Nobara project.. is a Fedora Mod. But the problem with this O.S is the other games.. or anti-cheat not work on Linux. For example Valorant anticheat.

In this right moment in fresh installation with .xml file on Windows 11 have 80 processes. Super smooth. I go to installe Grapich card and test csgo.

Desktop search is removed (Microsoft.549981C3F5F10 'Cortana').
Free Store apps can be sideloaded, or integrated into the image. Paid apps or DLC still requires the actual Store for purchasing.

This preset is a starting point, feel free to undo removals if they don't fit your needs.

Ladies and gentlemen, I enclose the BenchMark made on 10/13/2022.
BONUS: I also attached a photo of the consumption and processes. Greetings. The processes it shows are with Google Chrome open and also CSGO.

If I may make some suggestions for benchmarking...

1) Every benchmark needs to be done the same, and without other things running in parallel (no Chrome, etcetera), for consistency.

2) Wait until all your benchmarking is totally done and post it all at once, rather than in bits and pieces in a lot of separate posts, otherwise it becomes too hard to follow.

3) Maybe post screenshots as attachments or thumbnails, these really large images are hard on the eyes scrolling through the forum.

Basically, benchmarks should be in a "before and after" comparison all in one post, such as this example:

----------
Note: All benchmarks use the in-game CSGO benchmarking tool.
Windows 10 22H2 Default Install: 600 frames per second
Windows 10 22H2 GamerOS Preset: 650 frames per second
Windows 11 22H2 Default Install: 600 frames per second
Windows 11 22H2 GamerOS Preset: 650 frames per second
----------

Also, on this note your processes and handles are really high, which makes me think you didn't install this preset on that recent benchmark? Is that the "before" images you are posting? If you look at Txmmy's screenshots his task manager is much different. You need to make sure you're providing all the relevant information people need, otherwise it's all pointless and not helpful. Not trying to be a downer here, just constructive criticism, this is the type of thing people do which is why the internet is full of bad information, because the benchmarking was never done, or was done incorrectly.
