    Windows 8.1

Eh, I got no SetSQMTask, even after updating. Unless is related to Secureboot (which doesn't apply to legacy machines such as DualCore Pentiums), then it didn't come from windows updates on my end.

Ok, first, no signal of that task on a fresh, out-of-the box standard windows 8.1 pro install (esd, update 3). Running windows updates, though my internet is not that fast, so that may take a bit.

    Windows 8.1

I can check it on a fresh install later today (I'm going to test a new version of my 8.1 this week anyways). as for the Abbodi's script, does it work on windows 8.1? how does it compare to WUB + Blackbird + WPD + W10Privacy (I have automated them to run at first startup in the above image)

    Windows 8.1

OK, the OOBE.cmd thing doesn't seem to be working. Also, there is one pesky machine (3rd gen i3, 4gb RAM, 32gb SSD) that seems to ignore Setupcomplete no matter what I do. Any ideas?

    Windows 8.1

Here am I with another weird question: Can I use OOBE.cmd to create the user account (based on the SerialNumber)? like: net user username password /ADD /FULLNAME:"User_Fullname" /PASSWORDCHG:Yes /EXPIRES=No and if answer is yes, should I go about removing the old WinX folder in OOBE.cmd or...

    Windows 8.1

Ok, a few notes gathered from my own experience: When doing a NLite image for multiple machines, make sure Setupcomplete.cmd has a way to tell which machine you're installing at a given time. As Kasual sugested, this could be acomplished by getting the model name from WMIC or, the Hostname. In...

    Windows 8.1

Managed to do that though my code turned out to be a little different, since I still need to account for two identical models (both "Inspiron 13-5378") with different configurations. I'm not sure of it, but isn't that against NTLite TOS?

    Windows 8.1

So, I was having trouble with different machines having different drivers and found something that could be very useful for scripting NTLite SetupComplete.cmd: if hostname=="PC1" goto 1 if hostname=="PC2" goto 2 :1 %WINDIR%\Setup\Files\ one entry for each thing you want to install only in PC1...

    Windows 8.1

OK, Setupcomplete runs after OOBE, Check. It's actually working against me. Is there any way to make a file that runs before? I've read somewhere that you can force the PC to boot in Audit mode, execute a script then reboot in OOBE, but not the specifics of HOW. Did anyone here try that? Also...

Trying some WinX custom shortcuts directly on the Wim image instead. Turns out 7zip can deal with those.

    Windows 8.1

hmm, does setupcomplete.cmd runs before or after the OOBE user is created? if it's before... is it possible to empty one folder of the user profile(s) somehow (other than starting some file manager from a pendrive)?

    Windows 8.1

Huh, strange question, but how do I execute a script AFTER the user profile is created in OOBE? Also, is there an environment variable I can use to copy some files (program profile backups, mostly) to said users appdata folder? Or should I copy it to the default user and let windows handle the rest?

    Windows 8.1

OKAAAY Here we go: ::Office 2013 non-click to run Start /wait Office\Setup.exe /adminfile [your msp file name].msp ::Corel x7 (probably works for newer versions, this is what I used since X3) and updates start /wait CorelX7\Setup.exe /qb! USERNAME=[Name goes here] SERIALNUMBER=[What you...

    Windows 8.1

Yes, true. But we're talking about different things here: You can't have one running while the installer is working. So if the installer is named VLC.exe, it self-closes thinking it's the player and the installation obviously doesn't happen. Also, figured out the issue with Sketch. start...

    Windows 8.1

still fighting with Sketch, but I've figure most of the troublesome ones. Tip: Do not have your VLC installer called VLC.exe or it will self terminate (VLC checks for running instances with that name and terminates them to avoid crashing a running video or song). Took me a while to figure that one.

    Windows 8.1

It may be an stupid question, but what is difference of a CMD and a BAT file? start /wait msiexec /qn /i isscript.msi start /wait msiexec /qn /i SketchBook8.0.0_Win64.msi ADDDESKTOPSHORTCUT=0 ADDQUICKLAUNCHSHORTCUT=0 Because I had ^ that and it didn't work (some prerequisites are annoying...

    Windows 8.1

Again, I only have one HDMI output. Multimonitoring is impossible without Miracast. Plus, all the cabling needed to supply an old house. On another question: Autodesk Sketchbook - How do I install this thing silently? It doesn't seem to have any switches!

    Windows 8.1

OK, first thing to blame is ICS (Internet Connection Sharing) and it's sub-component, ALG (Application Layer Gateway), which pairs the TV, but doesn't install the required virtual devices for it to work Second, WPS. Whoever invented the smart-proof idiocy that allows anyone with physical access...

    Windows 8.1

Still needs more testing, but narrowed it up to something on the network page. I think one of those services creates some sort of file or registry that it's needed for Miracast to work, and then the service can be removed altogether. Kind of like with Some programs check if a service exists, but...

    Windows 8.1

If you remove the other drive you can boot from it. and I've considered buying a bigger SSD for testing, I just can't afford it right now. I'll check the Nvidia slimming thing, and the audio, but MAXX is a pain and the last time I tried it didn't install at all!
