I've got it working with a Registry. I found the answer here:
https://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/forum/windows_10-start-win_general/hide-news-and-interests-for-new-users/feaeddbb-a3ee-48eb-b56a-e3497df07a28
I've attached the Registry that I integrated that hides "News and interests" by...
I tried integrating a registry on top of using that setting in NTLite and it still came up.
Did some more testing. I can't change the setting to Disable during a second pass of NTLite. However, I think it may be irrelevant, because even when I set it to just Icon without text, it still...
It seems that I was wrong about the reason why it didn't work. Even when the News & interest setting was set to default on my first pass and disabled on my second pass, it was still enabled once Windows was loaded into a profile.
There's a slight problem that is probably due to the order of which I do things.
The cumulative has to be integrated last for me because otherwise, if I do a fresh install and something else is integrated after the cumulative update, it will redownload and reinstall the cumulative update...
For the icons option, I run this command:
REG ADD HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Policies\Explorer /v DisableThumbnails /t REG_DWORD /d 0
I don't know about the one for expanding folders automatically. You can do your own research on it if you want. I never had a problem with...
That's the right setting to stop the behaviour that that you described, unless if I'm misinterpreting what you described.
Have you tried checking it, applying and unchecking? Maybe there's a graphical glitch where it shows that it's off, but the setting is actually on? I know that the "Always...
Yup... no arguments there... I have Windows 7 on my desktop running a 9th gen intel CPU myself. I specifically chose that latest chipset at the time with official driver support (Z370), because I didn't want the hassle of dealing with modded Drivers for the Z390 chipset. I've certainly seen...
Oh, that's what you meant. OK, yeah.
The latest desktop official Windows 7 driver support for intel chipsets end at the 370 series chipsets. Starting from 390, they don't provide any official support for Windows 7 drivers, but there are some modded drivers. Some people have installed some PCIe...
Hmm? Are you talking about laptops specifically? I've never heard of manufacturers restricting support to certain OS's by locking it down in some way. I know that Lenovo has had a history of restricting it so that only certain approved hardware will work (like wifi adapters).
I've also seen...
So you're installing this for multiple computers? Laptops will be tricky to work with due to the lack of Windows 7 drivers. The latest that I've seen official support for is the 4th gen. But if you've got it to the point where it's already recognizing the USB and you can't install onto the...
Yes, you're right. I missed the part where he wrote where he obtained the drivers. If it's an Intel desktop motherboard, the Z370 chipsets and older should most likely have official Windows 7 drivers that can be downloaded from the manufacturer's website. For the Z390 and newer, some modified...
I was able to confirm that it's just a matter of order by doing one pass of NTLite without the cumulative update, then one more with the cumulative update so that it's integrated last.
This thread was originally about something else but that was resolved.
However, I noticed that in 20H2, the cumulative update KB4579311 re-downloads and reinstalls in Windows Update, despite it already being integrated. I know that this was a problem before, but I thought that Nuhi fixed it by...
For testing purposes, just install your ISO, then open up task manager in Windows itself as soon as you are logged in for the first time. In task manager, navigate to the path that I quoted earlier and disable the task there manually by right clicking on it and choosing disable. Then, do all of...
No, that's not quite right. Nuhi fixed that so that NTLite will do the order correctly. What I was thinking was that it could be a language thing. Did you set your (keyboard) language to have anything else other than the language of the base windows image? Windows has a task in task scheduler in...
Perhaps my experience with a similar problem can provide some insight. The difference is that your update is a preview. I don't bother installing those, but maybe it's still the same situation that's causing this to happen for you...
