After pressing the button. Wait for the process to finish and go to Source and load the image again. But I highly recommend you not to do it that way. It is much better to integrate updates, save the image and create an ISO, back up the ISO and only after you have an updated ISO in a safe place...
Microsoft Edge installed by CU or by .msi are the same. This is the new chromium-based Microsoft Edge. The old Edge is disabled by CU. Maybe using setup takes up less disk space (I haven't tested this) but if you install Edge with any setup downloaded from the internet the CU will detect its...
You can add updates and in the Apply option of the left menu select the combo box Stop before saving the image then load the image again in the Source option. This will integrate the updates and reload the image without unmounting it.
But I prefer to create an updated ISO and save it somewhere...
I think StartisBack changes the Windows Shell or something like that. I couldn't figure out how it disables hot corners. It sure isn't using the registry for that.
This is bad :( NTLite has a component called "Modern App support" which was formerly called Metro Services or something like that...
Yes that's right. Microsoft has discontinued the old Edge so instead it is installing chromium-based Edge and disabling the old Edge.
It depends on how you do it. If you do everything in the same session then NTLite will first integrate the updates then remove the components so nothing you...
Linux :p with new hardware I believe that at some point the only options will be Windows 11 or Linux. For those who don't play games or use a specific professional program (Adobe apps, AutoCAD and so on) I believe that Linux is the best alternative. To browse the web and make documents...
I do not know :p In MDL LiteOS calls this "disable Metro infrastructure".
But the most technically correct I think would be "disable Shell Infrastructure Host integration" considering the name of the entry in the registry.
To use Windows Update without any errors unfortunately this is the only way. There are scripts to unregister system apps but anytime Microsoft wants it can prevent this or force the return of those system apps with an update.
I too but I just don't update :p or go back to Windows 7 or 8.1.
Combined :p

I made it. I set a 64 GB RAM threshold to start splitting svhost instances.
Windows 10 has a backdoor called Windows Update where Microsoft can do whatever it wants with your system without your consent. With Windows 10 who controls your machine is Microsoft not you, unfortunately. For this and other reasons I update the ISO remove everything I don't want and remove...
Clanger Did you turn off "Metro" by any chance? There is a reg tweak in the MDL for that and the handles decrease a lot but Start Menu, some things in taskbar, Settings app or any other UWP app will not work. I haven't tested this.
I'm curious how you did it, is there any way to share? I...
Yes Chromium Edge is added and legacy Edge is disabled and partly removed, if you remove it and then install a cumulative update I believe it is added again but I have never tested it.
It's quite exciting to know that on Windows 8.1 the performance is so much better! Yes Windows 8.1 has the fastest boot of all Windows.
Embedded Industry does not have most Metro apps. If I'm not mistaken just Store and one or 2 other apps.
Charms bar is present but you can disable it with...

KikiGames I found some comparison tests that are relatively current between Windows 10 and Windows 8.1.
Windows 8.1 consumes 2 GB less RAM and 2 FPS...
Tested on Windows 8.1 Pro VL Update 3 ISO with all updates integrated.
The preset causing these problems is attached.
Not detecting some components:
- Storage Spaces and SmartScreen are not detected.
- OOBE and Manual Setup compatibility do not appear;
