I'm looking for a way to do this on a shared iso on multiple computers, so that's not really feasible.
I tried integrating it and setting target version to the same version as the iso and it *seems* like it won't offer Windows 11 during setup, but it would be nice to prevent the integration...
Yes, I thought about integrating it, but I'm afraid it will offer users the choice of updating to 11 if their hardware supports it. I don't want that to happen.
Any idea how to go about disabling the network during installation? I tried disabling the TCPIP driver a long time ago during setup...
Microsoft recently started automatically installing this update during the OOBE process of installation:
https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/topic/kb5005716-out-of-box-experience-update-for-windows-10-version-2004-20h2-21h1-and-21h2-october-4-2021-4d3c3e9c-b636-49fd-9d79-3b027dfbaf8f
It offers...
Never mind. I can't seem to replicate it. The only way it seems I can delete those two features is if I delete them alone, with no cleanup. It's so weird. I've done this so many times, and 95% of the time I can't delete them. I finally got a stock wim with just the language components deleted...
I tested the newest version as you suggested and had the same issue. In general, I've found that doing things in steps rather than one large xml file produces a much smaller iso.
I found the problem. For some reason, DISM Resetbase prevents Typing and Text to Speech from being removed, but nothing else. I used the same preset on a stock wim with Custom (Complete) and it worked properly. Thank you for your help.
I use this tool to access older isos:
https://www.heidoc.net/joomla/technology-science/microsoft/67-microsoft-windows-iso-download-tool
It merely generates links to download the isos directly from Microsoft since Microsoft doesn't like to make old versions easily accessible on their website. If...
I'm pretty sure you can install this from the Store, even if you stripped the components:

Woah.... never knew that. Thanks!
Yes, I agree it would be awesome to have "Lock Presets" too, since I don't always want to protect the same components.
I have those already. I just wanted to report that for some reason (see pic below), WMP 32-bit player is still showing in the components section for me even after I stripped it. Here I am doing a live strip. Notice, nothing is removed because it was already removed:
Just to clarify, if I did this directly on the command line it would simply be this?
unregmp2 SwapTo:64
I'm asking because when I enter that, or just unregmp2, nothing *appears* to happen -- there is no output.
The compatibility options currently available to us are often insufficient.
I know we can protect files. *Please* let us protect specific components, too.
You could do that with an XML file if needed. Just let us add components to a custom XML file, and then "use" it to block those components...
