I see we finally have a new NT Lite build released (2024.3.9819)- but what should be an easy - is now not.
First I went to Check for Updates and I get the usual Update dialog. I click Update and then get this:
There is no antivirus or anything else interferring with anything here today.
So...
I am not saying the NT lite is letting anyone down. (or has let anyone down) but "baking" something longer - does not always mean "better".
I am saying that (historically speaking) NT Lite "usually" has an official production release about every month of so.
But here we are going well past...
Still wondering why I am rocking a Dec 2023 build as the main release?
Didn't we used to get a new "official" about every month or so?
Whatever is going into the next one - has been "going in" for a long time

Further to a discussion I started today in the Eleven Forums - has anyone removed OneDrive from a Windows 11 ISO with NT Lite, then installed the OS and then try to install OD manually - only to have it do absolutely nothing?
I have tried everything I can think of from 5 standard reinstalls...

Awesome info - exactly what I was looking for. This is like - a total eye opener for me - especially the concept of Append and Overwrite - which of course I completely misunderstood in the first place based on this post.
1. NOW - I get it and this makes complete sense and yes - I DO...
My test accounted for this - I specifically did not add any "online" updates to this build and used an original Oct 30 "vanilla" release version of Win 11 23H2 Business (multi-version) ISO direct from MS.
I then applied the full set of available updates (via WU) from Nov 14 (bringing me to...
Update: Just reapplied my Win 11 23H2 ENT preset to a new Win 11 23H2 Pro build and after a full WU and several restarts - there are no signs of any "pinned" crap apps or anything else - just this:
Looks like Pro could be a go after all :)
Sonic.
Just built a new Win 11 PRO ISO and (for the first time) tried the "Disk Configuration" option within the UnAttended section to create the "standard" 4 partition layout that Windows 11 would create during Windows Setup from a normal ISO.
Here is what I accepted as the 4 "default" partitions via...
OK - cool on the "auto-save" for beginners bit - makes complete sense.
But to my main question - and here is great example:
Moments ago - I loaded my current "Win 11 Pro" master preset (1) and made a series of minor edits and hit Apply. ISO created. All good.
And of course - because the...
Understood - but if I need to "clear" pins every month after WU - that is not going to fly.
Conversely - if I only need to "clear" them once - manually right click each and choose Uninstall - but once (and only once) - that might be tolerable. Will test that out as well.
In related news - I...
Been doing a deep series of new Win 10/Win 11 isos for 2024 - and one thing has really been annoying me about preset management in NT Lite.
When I was testing the finer points of my Win 10 Pro build - I load up my genuine MS Windows ISO, NT Lite preps the environment and when it displays the...
Thanks for this - but it's dated and did not really expose any weaknesses in the process. Maybe this just is what it is and I will need to accept it.
And - remember that this is something I do not do very often (annually) - my inquiry was more about best practices and ensuring I have NT Lite...
Ok - just reinstalled NT Lite to my personal computer - Intel Core i5-10600K running at 4700mhz.
C Drive is a Samsung 970 EVO Plus NVMe (PCIe V3x4)
Stock NT Lite Settings - accepted all defaults.
Just processed this configuration (Win 10 ENT 22H2) on a multi-edition official MS Business ISO...
Now - just so I am clear - are you guys talking it takes like approx 2 minutes to do something like this - end to end?:
The step in here that kills my machine is the Optimize Image File Structure step - this alone can take 6-7 minutes here.
I am going to leave my current install alone and...
