Big problems with Windows 7 after this preset

Hi nuhi,

As Im creating fully up-to-date 36v1 Windows 7 Image. I found new problems during testing with latest NTLite. Used preset is attached.
I tested this preset with cs-CZ and en-US languages. I can build AIO image in all languages, means single language DVD with 36 different editions. I wrote buch of scripts that can do it. I would post my Windows 7 Kitchen here, so everyone should create their own perfect setup media with latest updates (also non integratable are integrated like .NET 4.8) in their own languages in ESD format. But I need to fix some problems that NTLite causing.

1) At first login error popup, this file nolonger exist, so its leflover. I located problem and deleted registry in mounted image to avoid error bellow
Code:
reg delete "HKLM\TEMP_SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Active Setup\Installed Components\{89820200-ECBD-11cf-8B85-00AA005B4383}" /f

2) Windows Update now showing 5 Updates (KB3006137, KB2919469, KB2970228, KB3102429, KB2670828) - in previous NTLite version was WU clear, as every update is integrated (all updates you can find in PMed list from august)
I just tried them to install, and only platform update KB2670838 was installed, all others ends in fail status. Then I retried installation of remaining like 2-3 times in WU and after second fail and reboot is WU clear.
So something maybe from removals breaks WU and Platform update, We discussed it before here and you fixed it in build 7601, now its broken again. This is most sad thing as I was really happy we can build fully up-to-date Windows 7 with clear WU. This should be priority for fixing again

3) Windows 7 Enterprise E x86 (started from image SHA1: 4F407240B822C52395476F09542FF27DA175CC5B) and also x64 (started from image SHA1: 9E02CA738CEA4ECCA4576AE846283D438744F332) are broken and cannot be installed. Image is installable before NTLite touch without problem with SP1 and all latest updates. After first reboot it ends in error with PCI.sys, profived screen is from cs-CZ version. Error translaton is: "System cannot be loaded, system driver is missing or broken". Im going to test all E editions if they are broken too, but for now I testes Starter E and it works good, except two previous bugs I described
I tested this same process months ago and it was without problem for all Windows 7 Editions.

Hi George,

thanks for the feedback.
Tested it and here are my results:

1) Confirmed and fixed for next, only visible if turning off servicing stack compatibility in Win7.

2) Windows Update compatibility is not turned on in this preset so no point in testing that. Btw see the red warning on the Apply page about the turned off Servicing Stack compatibility, now it's much easier to enable deeper removals.

3) Cannot replicate this, I have tested your exact preset on Win7 SP1 Ent x86 en with lsi_sas.inf kept (VMWare compatibility enabled for simplicity to not guess what else is needed), and it installed.

Will send you a pre-release for the fix of #1, if you choose not to enable the WU compatibility.
For #3, keep hardware list/drivers needed, regardless if it worked before.
Let me know how it goes.

I tested pre-release version and I can confirm, 1 & 2 is fixed. Thanks for that. I enabled all compatibility for this test. On Ultimate Edition is now WU clear, I forgot that. That's my fault.

For remaining problem - image is still broken. And in was only one component as mentioned lsi_sas.inf, I removed it as I want to update this driver with newest one.

I tested now again installing E distro and only Starter E is installable. Any idea what can cause it?

Good.

For the driver issue, try without removing that driver and without integrating any, sometimes an integrated driver can have an issue.

Does it work in VMware/VirtualBox with VMware/VirtualBox compatibility kept?
If it fails there as well, then I would need that exact ISO prior the edit to replicate here.
