"Clean update backup" - which option to choose?

"Clean update backup" is split into: DISM, Compatible and Complete

What are these modes? I've removed 2GB of components, yet after installation Windows takes more than 10GB where WinSxS folder takes most space. Does this option have anything to do with WinSxS after install? What option/s should I choose to get as lightweight final installation as possible?

Thank you, how about WinSxS folder in final installation? Is there a way to trim down this folder? I've used DISM tool as described by Microsoft, but it doesn't remove anything from the folder.

DISM may clean winsxs up a bit but it will not empty it out completely. NTLite can remove "most" of its contents but some files must be kept. You can do this if you have a license, you cannot do it in Free/Unlicensed mode.

Load your image. Go to Components - System - Windows Component Database. Untick everything.

Thanks for the tip, I did as you said + change "clean update backup" to complete and I got 1.5GB more! I just bought NTLite license.

Go to my presets topic, download the pack and find a suitable preset. Load it and remove winsxs as above too.

I would recommend not to remove 'Windows Component Database' component, but all of its "children" only. WinSxS is in the 'Windows Component Store' component.
Reason is that NTLite cannot remove anything else from the same OS if that component is the database is removed.

To return it, you can use Host Refresh.
