Daily driving ISO created by NTLite

Hello!

I watched CTT videos about NTLite and I'm really impressed with it... so much in fact that I already bought a license to test it out myself but I was wondering
if I can really trust it and use as a long-term daily driver. I'm not concerned about something breaking but rather if NTLite is really only doing what it's supposed to do, it's not open source after all... from what I can see developer is really invested in this project and provides a lot of support here on the forum which is reassuring but I would like to hear your opinion on the matter.

NTLite follows the path of vLite & nLite. There's been some product around for nearly two decades.

There are alternative modding tools like MSMG, and different W10/11 debloat scripts but you'll probably get the feeling those projects are more focused on technical users. While basic Windows understanding is needed to get the most from NTLite, you don't have to be anywhere as technical as other projects expect you to be.

What NTLite excels at, is visualizing pending changes based on the UI layout, and preset file. Other tools are more black box and express "trust me, I'm making the right decisions for you" approach. NTLite allows you (for better or worse) to try your own path, and learn from it.

My experience is if you have a reasonable feature request, it will be addressed. And bug fixes turn around in a few weeks, unless it's a Windows limitation. And so far, this community is fairly cooperative about sharing its knowledge.

I agree with everything Garlin said, and rather than liking his post and moving on, I left my opinions below too so that OP knows we aren't bots :p

I have an NTLite license and made my own custom image that I've been using daily for a year and a half now without any issues, on both a desktop and a laptop. I'm a gamer and a power user, so I need high performance and control over my operating system. For my needs, these modern Windows are so bloated (I grew up on DOS/98/XP) that I actually wouldn't use Windows anymore if it weren't for having NTLite around because it's become too exhausting trying to stay on top of Microsoft and keep up with all the added complexities over the years.

NTLite is currently ran by 1 developer, with an army of volunteer helpers, and together we all work to improve NTLite by reporting bugs, making suggestions, and learning more about Windows by helping each other solve computer issues. There are 18,116 members on the forum, with 738 members on Discord (link). NTLite has been around for about 20 years now, originally launching "NLite" for Windows 2000/XP back in 2006 (link).

As far as I'm aware, NTLite sticks with official methods to do its tweaking (DISM, registry keys, etcetera) and tries to respect the Windows license agreement too. While it isn't open source, most of the tweaking is transparent because of this approach. I consider NTLite to be superior to all other similar tools, largely due to the developer releasing frequent updates and genuinely wanting NTLite to improve wherever possible.

One thing that nuhi has always given us(unlike some other tools or debloating scripts) is the ability to remove uneeded keyboards languages fonts and drivers, a f-ton of tweaks and answer file creation on top of driver and update integration.

There is a fair amount of fat in any os that can be removed without the meat of the os(and the user) having conniptions, lots of trial error and swearing will be involved.

Hellcow, your maths is crap. 2023 - 2006 = 17, just over halfway to 30.

NTLite allows you (for better or worse) to try your own path, and learn from it.
Hands on experience is the best teacher you can get.
