Export drivers from a live installation

Hi
I was wondering if i can export drivers from a loaded live installation. There's the "export drivers" button on the Toolbar|Drivers menu, but it's greyed out. I am using NTLite with an activated Business (single seat, commercial) license, version 1.7.3.6761 64-bit. What i am trying to do is setting up a machine with up to date 3rd party drivers, export drivers and adding them to an windows image, then repeating that with all computer models in our environment, so i can have a single image to fit everywhere. Yes that's probably going to be large, thats not a problem tho.
Thank you for your ideas,
Frank

Hi Frank, Im a bit rustty and havnt got ntlite currently installed so i cant check but try loading an image of your host os and see if you can export host drivers. This is where your drivers usually rest C:\Windows\System32\DriverStore\FileRepository toggle the view by date modified

Not all drivers can be exported, select another and you'll see.

What i have done is to create a Drivers folder and put all there and then integrate (best option) when testing on physical machine (like once a month or every 2 months).

Something different is to install Windows and take the drive, install and run on every machine, install drivers when needed, once you have it done on all machines, Capture the image.

Be careful with the gpu and realtek audio drivers, they are big and may exceed iso size limit for dvd burning, and display change very regular anyway.

Only 3rd party drivers are exportable, once highlighted in the UI.

However, there is a ready feature to automate what was described, the Host Import:
  • load the image from the machine you want to extract drivers from
  • go to the Drivers page
  • press Host Import in the toolbar
  • sift through and remove redundant or unnecessary drivers
  • apply to import all of them

Let me know if you see any issues, thanks.
