If you don't use Defender, then why bother adding those updates? WU will automatically update Defender after you install Windows, but it might take some time before starting. The goal is to keep Defender more current, so your PC has better protection while it waits for an update.

Another quick question if anyone can help?
Using the GamerOS preset, I saw that there was a user predefined.
How do I change that so that during setup, windows will ask me to set up a local user?
I removed the preset user, and Windows went straight to the login screen, but there was no user created.

I hope this doesn't leave out any important steps.
1. Open Unattended page. Scroll down to User accounts / Local accounts. Find the Administrator, click the Remove X on the toolbar.
2. Scroll down to Shell options / Out-of-box-experience. Change Skip local account setup -> false. Change SkipMachine & SkipUserOOBE -> false

Would have been easier to just do a live removal after the operating system was install. Just a thought
Most users don't know whenever you leave a specific setting undefined in the unattended file, Setup (or OOBE) will be forced to display a Setup screen to ask you for missing details. You can keep as many or as few settings as you need.
It's not an all-or-nothing choice with Unattended mode. IT admins will often use partially-filled answer files.
If you did a live removal, then there's no point making a bootable ISO. Live removals should be saved for either live image testing, or removing reinstalls after a monthly update.

What do you mean Store doesn't open? If you wanted to restore Store (which the default GamerOS preset removes), read post #291.
This doesn't look like a full preset. Start over with a clean ISO, load the GamerOS preset. Redo the Unattended fixes.
Save this as a new preset (backup). Now create a new ISO.

.Store is not required to download free apps. They can be sideloaded.

If I want to install a game from the windows store how would I go about doing that post install? I really would like to avoid going through a new windows install.
The game is listed as Free+, I tried using the powershell GUI linked above but it returned no package listed.

This isn't possible due to Store DRM.
1. Game and DLC content is stored in encrypted filesystem (EFS) volumes for security. Also to prevent tampering.
2. You need to connect to the Store to re-authorize a previous purchase.

I am having an issue with the latest 2022-10-23 preset on both vm and real pc where after windows installs then restarts and is at the black “getting ready” screen it stays there for a few minutes then the “getting ready” goes away and nothing happens. I left it there for 20 minutes and the dial just keeps spinning.
If I reboot the computer & vm then the install finishes and it takes me to the desktop.

That sounds like a Post-Setup task is blocked. Make sure any app installers are using unattended (silent) options.

thanks for the reply but I don’t have anything installing other than the OS, I am using the script “as-is”.
