Guide - How to create an alternative to a MultiBoot ISO/Media

XML contain more data than just the components someone might have removed. It's more efficient for us to view it than to ask questions. Plus, sometimes people don't realize a detail is important, so they don't convey that information to us. Most problems on this forum are some form of operator error, and providing the XML allows for better troubleshooting.

Windows 7 ISO cannot be downloaded from Microsoft anymore, can you please clarify where you obtained one? I ask because this is often a source of confusion too--people use ISO from 3rd party sites and that can cause problems sometimes. It usually boils down to what Garlin said, "You're leaving out a crucial detail" and we mean this in a friendly way, mistakes happen, that's all.
My W7 ISO is old more than 12 years and am sure about its authenticity.
and it works great.
the only problem comes when I combine it with w10.
what is the location of XML, i didn't find any thing like this.

The next obvious test would be taking the W10 ISO distribution, and replace the original install.wim file with W7's copy. WinPE (Setup) doesn't care what's inside install.wim, as long as the Windows version is equal or older than the boot.wim's release.

Now have NTLite make an ISO from the distribution. NTLite has added no changes, and it's the untouched W7 WIM.

etc etc etc.

Create hybrid iso with w10 iso and w7 captured wim, created vm, selected test iso, VB - VM - Name and Operating System - Edition - W7, start VM.

Run 1
Setup fails - "Windows cannot find the Microsoft Software License Terms. Make sure the installation sources are valid and restart the installation". Clicked OK to exit session.

Notes
Files on w7dvd dont exist on w10dvd,
Sources - License folder
install_Windows 7 Professional.clg and pkeyconfig.xm-ms(xrm-ms?)
Will copy files and folder over and try again.

Run 2
Copied files and folder over to w10 folder, same error :(
Run 3
Repeated Run 2 incase of user error, same result :(

Exact same error as greenworld but i didnt get theOS selection window.

Going to try the Append method, create a bootable iso and load in a vm.

4. Select W7 x86 image, and right-menu -> Export -> WIM -> Save [as W10 x86's install.wim]. When asked, specify Append instead of Overwrite.
Click Yes to overwrite, click No to append.
Used the Append option and ntlite is now showing w7 pro in c:\w10dvd.

Run 3
Create new vm, setup is showing w7 pro in the "select os to install" window, select w7 and this error again
"Windows cannot find the Microsoft Software License Terms. Make sure the installation sources are valid and restart the installation". Clicked OK to exit session." :/

Only thing i can think of is putting the w10 boot.wim in the w7 folder, will try later.

I think W10 setup has something changed than W8.1.

I combined W8.1 and W7 together and just added ei.cfg file. it works great.
but W10 and W7 is not working.

waiting, I hope someone will find the solution.

Combined 7 and 8, put 7s install.wim and ei.cfg into 8.1 image folder? or did you use the Append method?
my 7 and 8.1 are a single edition VL iso's. I need to keep image at under 4.3gb to burn to dvd, dual OS aint no good :/
time to dose myself up with a bacon sarny and mug of tea i think.

EI.cfg is only needed to override image selection when you have an OEM product key, and it doesn't match the SKU (Home, Pro, Enteprise).

Used some other tool to combine and then added ei.cfg.
if size is concerned use INSTALL.ESD instead of WIM.

copy w7 install.wim into 8.1 dvd, failed - "Windows cannot find the Microsoft Software License Terms. Make sure the installation sources are valid and restart the installation".
Wont bother trying the Append method.

Put 8.1 boot.wim into w7 folder, get to setup "language location and keyboard" window, click Next and that damn missing driver error
