How can I add one component to a live install?

Hello. I accidentally removed this component:
<c>nowplaying 'Now Playing Session Manager'</c>

It seems that this breaks the global media keys for playing media such as Play/Pause, Next/Prev, etc.

How can I re-add this to my live install without reinstalling the OS or losing files? I've tried finding that package online but have had no luck.

If you have a licensed copy of NTLite, the Host refresh feature allows you restore missing components on a live system. It's basically a repair reinstall using both a clean ISO and the previous preset you used to create the install image.

You can modify the components list to restore anything that was removed.

For the free edition, you would have start over and reinstall with a corrected version of your custom ISO.

I'm licensed. So do I just use Host Refresh with a vanilla windows iso/image and the same preset I used (except with that component not removed this time)?

How easily could I screw up and accidentally reset my settings or lose files?

For the most part, Host refresh works well. Of course, there have been instances where it was broken by an NTLite update and fixed later on. If you're concerned about your data, obviously make a backup.

NTLite will ask Windows to update files which are managed at the component level, which means it leaves your user files and reg settings alone.
