Hello,
Is there any way to remove /disable the new 'CORTANA (BETA)' app that's present in the Windows 10 May 2020 (20H1) update ISO without disabling the 'Shell Search' functionality?

I don't use CORTANA so need to remove that, & I know that CORTANA APP is locked by the Shell Search compatibility feature, but I don't wanna disable that 'Shell Search' as that 'd disable the searching functionality in START (tried & tested)

If there is any way to remove the app without disabling the ShellSearch, suggest me that, if not, then requesting nuhi to take a look in this case & if possible do something to make this happen.

btw i want to mention this if we are also talking about leftovers... for only 1 single time i had a "news app" leftover in my startmenu (then it went away with new ntlite versions, but i want to mention that if anyone else still having this issue please report)

Winver? & NTLite build?

So, now in 20H1 I used this preset on NTLite's pre-release version and I had this issue again (I think it's the same as SM03's). This time I only used NTLite and I still had the issue. If I choose a setting, close the app and open it again, it's blank again.

But earlier here you told me (us) that you don't have that issue??? Now you're saying this?

& it seems you check a different area where I didn't check, so I will check that area of yours
i.e. Windows Setings/Apps/Apps & Features/Choose where to get Apps

& Can you test/check this area what I reported earlier & revert from that same test machine?

OK, noted, checking that after the Settings Search is fixed. Thanks.

nuhi I think you ain't getting it, my & Windows 10 User's (last reported) issue isn't about whether the search via typing in the search bar under Windows settings is working or not, rather, it is about not registering & not even having any default values (the default option remain selected by default) in certain area under the Windows Settings after removing the Cortana part from the pre-release version of NTL.

For Windows 10 User, it's from this area of Windows Settings
& For me, it's this area from Windows Settings

Let me know if this time, it is clear or not?

Like I told you, Settings' search was fixed in the pre-release version but I still have this issue, i. e., this setting (at least) is blank and if I choose one, close the app and go there, it's blank again.

I was only having it with MSMG ToolKit and NTLite and now I'm having it with NTLite (pre-release version) only too with this preset in a 19041.1 Enterprise x64 pt-pt build.

Ok, I'll test it.

for everyone, keep all these tests in 20h1 for now, don't mix it up to avoid confusion, first sort these issues here in the current beach, 20h2 is not released yet & can wait

After running sfc /scannow with Administrator rights, it states that if found corrupt files and was unable to fix them. Do you have this issue too?

always concentrate on the job in hand. worry about tomorrow tomorrow, as tom hanks put it "i'll chew that food when i have to".
i could die in my sleep so i would have spent my last day worrying about nothing.

As you did that, then you should've checked the LOG as well to find out what are those corrupt files & as sharing this, also can share that with us too.

IIRC, after running that command I had new folders in the Start Menu. I suppose removed components returned (even though the supposedly corrupt files weren't fixed by sfc /scannow) and NTLite's Remove Reinstall didn't remove them, I guess (at least it didn't remove Start Menu's new folders).

What's the relevance of this reply concerning my earlier comment? I was asking about the LOG that you got after running the sfc /scannow for corrupt files.

I already deleted that VM but since you've asked me about the other problem I'll also try sfc /scannow again and afterwards post the CBS.log here if I still have this issue.

i also have this problem

what issue precisely? Can you elaborate? Because here we are mixing & discussion about two (different) issues now.

i alread showed it by typing it bold " not registering & not even having any default values "

just mentioned i am not expecting any fix rather than search fix on settings app... if he solves chromium edge setup not working if edge removed problem too thats bonus for me.

Why do you ask for the CBS.log when the issue doesn't have to do with yours and when I talk about a third different issue you complain? Anyway, I still have the issue I was having and I also have yours. Are you sure this issue is caused by the Cortana removal? IIRC, I also had it even when I didn't remove Cortana with NTLite.

Sometimes it looks like I have the old Settings app search problem but after closing the app and opening it again it's fine. It looks like I also have the weird icons problem showing up in Start Menu search sometimes too.

Weird, this time sfc /scannow didn't detect corrupt files and because of that (I guess) I don't have new Start Menu folders (not even after installing the latest CU [after disabling Hyper-V] sfc /scannow detected corrupt files and I had new Start Menu folders and so the removed components didn't return, I guess) and I suppose the removed components didn't return. I used the same preset except converting install.wim to install.esd to take less time when creating the image.

Now Windows doesn't install a driver in "System devices" and a driver shows up in "Other devices" as "Unknown device". The first is Hyper-V Virtual Machine Bus Provider and the latter is Microsoft Hyper-V Virtual Machine Bus

I removed all regions except mine (Portugal) but all off them still show up in the OOBE and I removed all keyboards layouts except mine (Portuguese) and the US one (NTLite doesn't let me remove the US one because if it did I would also do it) and between mine and the US ones there are empty keyboard layout rows (which are invisible) and can be chosen.

Also, I still can't run Office OneNote after removing Tablet PC. It states it needs Desktop Experience installed.
