Hello,
Is there any way to remove /disable the new 'CORTANA (BETA)' app that's present in the Windows 10 May 2020 (20H1) update ISO without disabling the 'Shell Search' functionality?

I don't use CORTANA so need to remove that, & I know that CORTANA APP is locked by the Shell Search compatibility feature, but I don't wanna disable that 'Shell Search' as that 'd disable the searching functionality in START (tried & tested)

If there is any way to remove the app without disabling the ShellSearch, suggest me that, if not, then requesting nuhi to take a look in this case & if possible do something to make this happen.

SearchUI.exe is part of Cortana's framework.
C:\Windows\SystemApps\Microsoft.Windows.Cortana_cw5n1h2txyewy\SearchUI.exe

MSFT has two bad habits: a) cross-integrating features so you can't remove unpopular products, b) grouping unrelated features under the same product name. Cortana is a voice assistant, desktop search and your OOBE wizard. W7 was just as bad, you needed IE9 installed to enable some File Explorer and scripting functions.

so, basically you're saying that there is no way to separate those two i.e. ShellSearch & Cortana App in any way or neither it is possible to implement in NTLite?

Both answers are no. Cortana is a bunch of different applets in the same package. NTLite and every DISM-based tool installs at the Windows component, feature, or package level, so you can't keep one or two files separately. Even if you extracted files, restore health wouldn't do the right thing.

20H1 shifted more search functionality into File Explorer, because Cortana's role in the desktop will be reduced. MSFT knows that some Enterprise clients would love to completely remove Cortana for security and privacy. But we're stuck here for now.

not completely stuck, I'd have removed Cortana via shell search compatibility if I don't use the search from START functionality which is quite useful. And Since due to this compatibility with shell search, I can't remove the CORTANA APP from Win ISO (hence asked here for any other way to do it)

But after installing the Windows from that custom modded ISO, I always remove the CORTANA (BETA) APP from the HOST.

& about 20h1 & Cortana, whatever you've said in your last line, yeah, I know & aware of that, so hoping in upcoming versions (of Windows) MSFT give the options to the End users to retain or remove Cortana completely like many other apps they've done lately, so then I guess it'd be possible for the dev nuhi to completely separate those two where Cortana ain't locked by that shell search & thus can be removed completely from the ISO without breaking the search function.

I would consider disabling cortana rather than removing it completely untill microsoft completely splits it from shell search...

same goes for internet explorer and windows media player (since they are needed for everykind of thing that we can't possibly find all)

Ok then tell me the full procedure of how to disabled CORTANA (Beta) app completely in Windows 10 v2004 May 2020 update ISO?

U can just disable cortona at settings part in ntlite. thats enough

I only found these CORTANA options that can be disabled in NTLite, under Configure/Settings/Privacy

& as you can see, that I already disabled those while making a custom modded Win ISO, still the Cortana (Beta) app (in Windows 10 v2004) is present there.

Are these the Cortana options that you're suggesting to disable via (under) NTLite? Or there are others? Let me know then.

I removed Cortana but when searching in the start menu the items showed up with messed up icons and I had no results when searching for certain things (like when typing "winver"). I didn't have these problems after keeping Cortana and after installing Windows I noticed I had a new Cortana app so I uninstalled it with CCleaner but I didn't have the previously mentioned problems.

if cortana beta app is a modern app just delete it under components apps.... because i don't have any issue with cortona after disabling it. i dont have an app maybe because i'm on 1909

you didn't answer whether those are the four options that I shared in the screenshot that you're referring earlier or not?
like I said earlier, it is now a UWP APP from Windows 10 version 2004 which you can't delete without unchecking the shell search compatibility as it is still locked by shell search, & I don't wanna disabled shell search as it breaks the START search feature.

It would be better if the dev nuhi himself clarify this matter but he's (probably) not gonna reply so..

I think you didn't read my first post with attention. Requesting to got though the OP again.

SM03, Cortana is not locked out by Shell Search as it is under it:
Shell Search
-- Cortana

You can uncheck just Cortana compatibility, and the Cortana itself, Start search works in Win10 2004 without it (keep Shell Search of course).
If you see any different, please attach a preset.

Thanks.

Am not getting it. can you explain this by showing a screenshot pls for better understanding? Is this removing Cortana part a paid feature that free users like me can't access? as you can see in #12 of mine here in this thread, I've shared the screenshot where I disabled every cortana option from privacy.

If you're using Win10 v2004, you must be aware that Cortana is splited from the start search & from this v2004, MSFT included a new Coratan (Beta) app, all I want to do, is to remove that app from the ISO, which I am not able to do without disabling the shell search compatibility option, and as I know shell search is required for searching something directly from start, I don't wanna disable that as I use that feature often.

I always uninstall that after installing Win10 via Revo Uninstaller since can't find any proper option to eliminate that via NTLite hence posted here to let the dev know about this.

I uninstall it via CCleaner since I can't find a way to remove it in NTLite and MSMG ToolKit. Do you think removing it with NTLite (or MSMG ToolKit) when possible might break Search?
