Inactive shared folder causing boot issues

I stripped down a win 7 image using clanger's lite preset..
And im using it for vm image booting,
Now my image has shared folder from a NAS server
Strangely if that shared folder is inactive because of network / server or whatever reason,
The image would refuse to boot or boot incompletely, the exporer is showing not responding error..
Im trying to trace the cause of this issue,
because it didnt happen before on my full unstripped image with same setup..
Is there any part of the preset or functions that might cause this?

If its the Stage1 then it shouldnt give any problems because its just a light cleanup. Thatsaid i dont use VM's, only direct to hardware.

Post the session file please.

I have to refresh my memory with my presets so i have had a look. I have protected all VM drivers in Compatibility and only kept 3rd party drivers if they are needed for a Compatibility option. I have removed Asimov, Anytime Upgrade and CEIP.

CEIP is related to SQM and i think pmikep had issues removing CEIP because of SQM.

Load up a clean image and load the preset. Guesses - CEIP(SQM), a missing driver for VM, check the drivers needed for VM and or Asimov.

Im going to keep my eye on this subject and if it is preset/removal related i will adjust the presets. :)

Unfortunately i already reformat the hdd used to create this,
Took me a while to figure out the cause though

It only happens IF theres a problem connecting to the shared pc, whether its caused by network or the shared pc is inactive.
Otherwise it works fine,
So to simplify it, somehow windows suddenly ask the shared connection during boot up to be active otherwise the explorer would crash..

Have you checked the ISO (root) contents to extract the auto saved preset?

What Clanger says make sense, as i tooked a look at Clanger's lite preset and there is not too much to have removed.

But there would be a problem with the drivers removed, as iSCSI and SAS storage drivers. Drivers are loaded starting Windows.

As a side note Kas, i wonder on what the install size would be using stage1 lite, keeping only host drivers and removing winsxs components completely, hmm. 2.6GB installed i reckon.

For x64 and updated, i think is over 10 GB once installed and around 2.6-2.8 GB as source.
