tuesday full driver update test.
pack dont work, dont even get to the setup screen. not going to spend more time on this method.

next up - ps2 kb+rodent/without belkin usb card\install from internal dvd test. i know on mobo usb ports work after install, its the setup that is the tricky part.

bios boot screen, select drive then screen goes blank, zip zilch squat kadingus nada. i mean, it should boot with ps2 rodent+kb, sata dvd. nope, this bastard board refuses to boot. ive tried uefi and non uefi boot. i am out of patience and wherewithal. catching up on my other w7 stuff and i gotta rebuild this pc with a b365 board and 9400f. high summer is here now and its too hot to do anything except sweat :(

if the boards died it might have taken the cpu out too, ive scrapped them.

Did you try booting a win10 dvd ? If a win10 dvd loads up ok, then that indicates a problem with the win7 dvd.

If the win10 dvd also fails to load, that could be an issue with the dvdrom drive.

drive and sata cable were tested beforehand. drive had been in storage. brand new disc was used. nero express and the check burn quality option was On, burn was successfull. w7 sp1 u iso extracted, my driver pack added to install wim. general basic cleanup/no removals with ntlite - this combination is known working on this main system when installing from usb. the fact the board did boot days before but then refused to indicates board screwed. always felt that board had issues, it didnt feel right. those parts are gone now anyway.

boards are in short supply, got my eye on an asus one that isnt even showing as availible yet.

That's expected under pure UEFI, it's known problem.

You need to use USB boot instead. And for pure UEFI boot is needed FlashBoot PRO - this can properly patch bootmgrfw.efi to be able to boot it without problem. I have tested in on B360 - pure UEFI, GPT install on NVMe

hmm. it will be middle of september before i can come back to this. i might just say hell and go 8.1 instead. dont know yet.
i can easily get another 4/5 years with w7+9th gen, 8.1 works a treat on 8/9th. w11 might be ok after 2 years and people who the tricks. waitunsee

here's a thunk,,
what about applying the image with dism instead of setup? someone recently posted that applying with dism was faster than with Setup.

I have used the apply method for years. winntsetup is a nice easy way if you dont want to bother with the commands.

For anybody in this position:

For whiskeylake laptop cpus UHD 620 (PCI\VEN_8086&DEV_3EA) add this line to biostar graphics drivers

Clangers Windows 7 64bit Intel H310C(R2.0) and B365 chipset Driver Pack - CLW764bitINH310CB365DP_20210731.zip
minor changes - shortened file and folder names.
Use NTLite v2.1.2.8074 or above.

This pack includes all the required Intel chipset drivers and inf files needed for Setup and Installation. UHD 610/630 iGPU driver not included.
Download link is on my Profile Posts page for members only.

Instructions
Extract your windows 7 iso to C:\W7DVD
Download CLW764bitINH310CB365DP_20210731.zip and extract to C:\CLDIP
Do Not Move the registry file, driver files from inside the pack, they are set to load from those locations.
Do Not Move the preset.xml files, they are automatically copied over to NTLite\Presets folder.
Preset for install.wim is set to load from a single edition iso, Professional - index 1.
Preset for boot.wim is for index 2 - Microsoft Windows Setup.

Click Start.bat in the driver pack to start the process which is fully automated.
2 instances of NTLite will run, the first for the boot.wim, the second for the install.wim.
There is a short delay before the second window opens, this is normal. I have calculated this by the integration time on my Crucial MX500 ssd.

Thanks to nuhi for his help and for the latest command line options. :)

I expected it would work fine. Win7 drivers are supplied on gigabyte site, apart from igpu - the biostar drivers for that work fine. There is also a set from canonkong https://www.sevenforums.com/install...stallation-media-post3398225.html#post3398225

I expect the difficulty with 10/11th gen would be no igpu drivers ( needs a separate graphics card) and possibly net card - hopefully can be solved with a dongle.

Somebody got win7 working on a Dell 3671 https://www.dell.com/community/Vost...0-Windows-7-install-problem/m-p/7801886#M4576
