Hi
I search for tips and help to make windows use more ram and use less hardrive.
This settings I use now, do you have any tips or know more settings to make windows use the harddrive less ?

Disable defragmenting
Disable System Restore
Disable Page File Size
Disable Hibernation
Disabling Memory Dumps
Disable Reliability Monitor
Timestamp Off
Windows Event logging Off
8.3 name creation Off
User Trackin Off

* "disable superfetch and prefetch"? - Does prefetech use ram or HDD ?

* "Write Caching" - ?
(Enable write caching on this device and Turn off Windows write-cache buffer flushing on the device )
Shuld i have it "both checked" if I want use windows to use less harddrive ?

* "Disable Indexing"- ?

Reg.exe add "HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Policies\Explorer" /v "NoInstrumentation" /t REG_DWORD /d "1" /f

Im not too fussed about that because you can do most things with elevated reggies n bats.

ultraform Ive been looking at a standard install with bareboned services and ccleaner with winapp2 file. I can save ccleaner results to a txt file so i can see whats creating logs. System Ninja is supposed to be more powerful than ccleaner so i can see what results it gives.

Will check Group Policy Editor to see if thereare any options availible.

I can do reg files for you ultraform :) The only thing is they obviously wont remove/clean out folders, thats why i prefer bats.
Ive had a look and ccleaner with winapp2 looks more powerful that System Ninja, i should be able to stop most of the worst space hogs, i'll ping ya here when im done. 2 weeks tops as its top of my list for my own devilish needs. They will be 8.1 specific though, they may work on 7 and the 10s but users will have to test them for themselves.

Okej :O
I didn't get the .Cmd/bat files to work in NTLite dont know how to set them up :/ but after Install windows there is no problem.=)

There will be bats and reggies, choose which type you want. I do my stuff post install/after 1st logon because somethings need elevated permissions so i run them all from Power Run.

What you could try is load your image, load the required registry section, copy then adjust the registry entries to where ntlite loads them and merge the reg files from Power Run UI.

ultraform Do yoo use ccleaner? You are still gonna need a way to clean out all those folders.
My honest opinion, use reggies for pagefile etc and bats for the rest. Making progress :)

Ok, i will do you a custom ccleaner ini file with custom files and folders if you go with the reg files only route.
Stick with ccleaner(and winapp2), system ninjas a pussy.
All ccleaners are portable. Extract the installers with 7zip, run exe's to setup your settings then back the folder up inc the ini file. Ive been running ccleaner that way for years. :cool:

ultraform Heres a starter, save for later, the rest will be ready within 7 days. Its gonna have to be a combination of reggies and bats, if i cant reggy it it will be batted instead, especially the scheduled tasks. Theres a few tasks that have to be set manually because their guid changes between installs and i havnt found their master setting location.
Open regedit and go to the following entry,

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\ControlSet001\Control\WMI\Autologger

export the whole branch to a reg file and save as Disable-WMI-Autologger.reg

Edit the file with notepad, use the Replace option in Edit(or Ctrl+H).

"Replace All" instances of
"Start"=dword:00000001 <--about 40 of these
with
"Start"=dword:00000000

"Replace All" instances of
"Enabled"=dword:00000001 <--about 400 of these
with
"Enabled"=dword:00000000

Save and merge into registry or back up the file to use later on, you will need to restart if using on a running system.

This may be overkill as it might be enough to disable Autologger or disable Autologger and use the Start values.

Don't know about the tasks (names or types) but instead of run regedit, you can make a batch to export, replace and import.

you can make a batch to export, replace and import.

I would have done but i didnt know how to. Only took me a couple of minutes and its done and backed up, itwould take longer to hunt online for how to and tryouts. Thats why i posted the quick and easy(lazy sods :p) way. hehe

I will deal with that lone task manually, i usually end up doing a bit of house cleaning anway. :)

You are a dedicated follower and i can always bank on a "like" from you thats why. :)
Remember back when i told you not to bother with 8.1? :confused: hehe

If i didnt play games I would use win 8.1 all days =) you can change start meny/ and settings so it looks how you want it and it have better support for newer hardware :p.

Does the all reg files work for win 7 or only some for win 8.1 :eek:
