Miracast, Again.

Its a simple question, yet a loaded one:

Is miracast irreversibly broken in LTSC 2021? I've tried many times since it was released, and not even in an unmodded image, I can get it to work.

I have tried to enable Wireless Display in the FoD tab, update, drivers... to no avail. So I'm asking for help. All I want is to know I'm able to push an external display to a TV (which is Miracast capable, I've done it from Tablets and Cellphones without issues), so I don't need a bunch of dongles and cables when I go on a trip.

like thats gonna be a problem.
just give me time tea f@gs and Power Run.
the only real problem is knowing how low you can go.

this, this is how low you can go with usability, because i know you will never stop....

To be fair, if there were drivers for my machine in windows seven, I'd be using that. After NTLiting, of course.

But it was way better than what we've been forced to deal with as of recently.

Notebook user. Too many power failures where I live to safely use a desktop. Nvidia Optimus is my enemy, but until a few moments ago, AMD was NOT the best choice for gamers... Now it is and my next system is going to be AMD for sure.

Windows 8.1 is also a great alternative, in my opinion it performs better than Windows 7 if you have a decent graphics card or a decent integrated video.

After playing games that require Windows 10 I will probably use 8.1 forever and Linux :)

Windows Embedded 8.1 Industry Pro is a Windows 8.1 LTSC-like and great to use even without using NTLite.

if i can get a successful 8.1 sysprep n capture i'll drop w10.
I have no issues with that as long as I don't touch some scheduled tasks (I don't remember exactly which ones). And Windows Update doesn't work in audit mode but I integrate all updates offline and manually install the missing ones online using the .msu files.

i would like to do a fully updated till end of 2021 capture because in the last year ms are gonna start slipping some nasties in.

N and KN(Korea?) were not ms's idea but as a result of local legislation against , "brain fart ", you know what i mean.
fat lot of good the Ns did in the end.
I forgot to answer that. Yes that's right. N editions would be great if they don't break useful content. When I used this in just a few hours browsing the internet Firefox started complaining that it couldn't play some media content (probably videos on some sites, I don't remember). I don't know if Chrome had the same problem but it probably did because I think browsers rely on Media Foundation to play content. Another problem was connecting my android smartphone to Windows.

So using N editions at some point you will be forced to install the media feature pack and restore all media features which defeats the whole purpose of using an N edition. You have no alternative since programs rely on Windows components so this EU law was of no use.

True, and I've used it in previous notebooks, including a 2-in-1, which many people said it was impossible to get working. This particular model, a Dell G5 5590, has issues on anything but 10/11. And not only yellow bangs on device manager, I'm talking actual audio issues and one nasty bug on Nvidia that makes me go bluescreen (NvHDA.dll or somesuch) when I try.

Still getting through 10, and I can get it down to reasonable requirements and still have useable features, I just can't make the freaking miracast work, but considering it is currently broken on LTSC2019 too, I'm chalking it up to M$ wanting to kill that technology and call it a day. It was useful, but I can live without it.

Embedded 8.1 Pro or Enterprise. ran Pro for a year or so, its a good os :).
make sure you get the later "with Update, U3" version.

Again 7/8.1 give me bluescreens whenever optimus switches from the iGPU (UHD630) to the dGPU (GTX1660). From what little I gathered on the subject apparently the DLL accused in the blue screen is an Audio library, but the actual issue is actually in the internal USB-C controller (there's no USB-C port on the device itself, but there is a mux chip which causes the whole mess.

Which windows? 7, 8.1, 10 or 11?
Sorry I meant Windows 10. The Pro version contains more features although I find it strange not to have miracast in Home since this is a feature for home use too. Enterprise is the version that has the most features so if you want to make sure this will work test Enterprise, it doesn't download apps and it obeys more group policies too.

But tell me in more detail how you tried to add FOD. Have you tried this using NTLite? See this topic:

Yes, I've tried to do it with ntlite, due to ADD, I suck at using the command line and have broken my computer doing so in the past. I use scripts, but made a point to never ever test them on my live install, always on a test machine first. This is what I did:

Downloaded stuff from uupdump, renamed accordingly, making one extra copy of the largest file and removing the _[string of characters] at the end of that one, but otherwise keeping them in case NTLITE needs them.

Capturar.PNG

this is what I have at ProgramFiles > NtLite > Updates > 10.21H2.x64.FOD

Then I go into NTLite, and enbale them in Features tab, but when processing the image, Wireless display fails on any images but the LTSC, and that one has missing components which don't let it work even if it is integrated.
