Miracast, Again.

Its a simple question, yet a loaded one:

Is miracast irreversibly broken in LTSC 2021? I've tried many times since it was released, and not even in an unmodded image, I can get it to work.

I have tried to enable Wireless Display in the FoD tab, update, drivers... to no avail. So I'm asking for help. All I want is to know I'm able to push an external display to a TV (which is Miracast capable, I've done it from Tablets and Cellphones without issues), so I don't need a bunch of dongles and cables when I go on a trip.

It looks like LTSC 2021 is a crippled version just like the N Editions are. This is the result of Microsoft's laziness in making this version of LTSC based on 19041 build. The truth is that Microsoft no longer cares about Windows 10 and is focusing on Windows 11.

Fortunately it looks like there is a workaround by abbodi

Miracast is slow as f*ck for me. too laggy like 0,5+ secconds delays. Chromecast is much faster no delays or 0.2-0.3 sec delays.

But for Chromecast (or for wifidirect) you need to be connected to the same network. I mean same WiFi. Monitor/TV can't be connected via LAN if your laptop/phone is connected via WiFi....

If your google chrome giving you error "only available for specific video sites" goto chrome://flags/
first try to reset flags even tho you did not change anything, if that doesnt work then
then change this to disabled
#global-media-controls-cast-start-stop

The other solutions such as removing updates of chromecast etc did not work for me

cripple away ms, the less crap the better.
Yeah, for me it's a good thing to be crippled if it means less Microsoft crap. What I'm against is removing useful features for some and keeping junk like Edge Chromium. If the goal is not to have features that receive updates very quickly (UWP apps, etc) why keep Edge? Does not make sense. It seems to me that the only goal is to discourage people from using LTSC and going to consumer editions like they did with N editions.

ltsc/pro crap, heavily equipped with features.

home edition is the lighest.

I'm was thinking about testing this :) although I remove most of the features with NTLite so I don't know if it will make any difference.
yeah when u edit that much, it won't matter in terms of performance but removing less on a already light system would be more stable i think. or more compatible in terms of windows updates.

Thanks for the fix, will try!

And the problem with Home edition is telemetry. Not so much as blocking it, but how much in terms of resources are spent trying to generate it. if there is a way to not update/upgrade and have a no telemetry machine on home edition... well, I have OEM laptops so they come with windows 10 licenses.

That's not even a thing exclusive to windows, Samsung TVs being blocked by Gaming routers (because their telemetry frequency is so high it is mistaken for a Flood attack from inside the network) is a thing that happens!

Telemetry works the same in all editions of Windows what will generate less telemetry is what you use. UWP apps, Store and Windows Update among other things use a lot of telemetry. LTSC has the advantage of coming with no apps and no Store but you can remove that in Home or Pro and have less telemetry too.

The advantage of Enterprise (LTSC included) and Education is that these editions obey some group policies that Pro does not.

Telemetry = Security (minimum degree of telemetry) is one of them.

wrong. telemetry on home can be blocked just as the others. also it generates less.

Tried to build myself a Home (Single Language) edition, but unlike the LTSC, I can't add Wireless Display packages to it. (the same ones which integrate without issue on LTSC)

N and KN(Korea?) were not ms's idea but as a result of local legislation against , "brain fart ", you know what i mean.
fat lot of good the Ns did in the end.

Yes, because MS outsmarted the EU by releasing N and the full edition on the same ISO. Which one do you think consumers pick?

Less only because Home has less services. Pro and Enterprise don't generate more in-depth telemetry. Removing most of the event logging classes solves the performance issue and removing what telemetry collects.

Home has less services.
like thats gonna be a problem.

just give me time tea f@gs and Power Run.
the only real problem is knowing how low you can go.
