Using Windows 10 online with logged into the MSFT account but the MSFT account (profile) picture ain't showing in any UWP app installed in the system.

Here, in this screenshot, the MSFT acc PP ain't showing in three UWP apps i.e MS Store, Weather & Photos

1.png

Tested this for several different systems, with several different W10 builds, for more than a month, just to confirm that this is not a particular installation or system or build specific error or any random error, been persistent for every system (including Laptops/Notebooks & desktops with different H/W configuration from intel 2nd gen to 9th gen) & for every W10 builds, for last 1/2 months.

Now reporting here to nuhi

If anyone experienced the same kind of issue, can confirm here or suggest any workaround if known.

Can you try to enable uac back on and restart?
Although I highly doubt that this's related to the UAC, because I've been using W10 with UAC disabled completely for the last 2/3 years & never faced this or any other issue related to UAC, still, as you suggested, I did that

Reverted UAC option slider to the default settings & reboot & here's the same result, no change1.png

Old thread, but I saw it doesn't have a solution yet. Did this ever get figured out?

Have you checked into the various sync settings, perhaps you've turned off one of them that is needed to import your picture? Did you import any reg files we can look at?

Your profile photo will appear if you haven't removed MS Account components. Nothing to do with UAC.

Windows will sync your profile every so often, because it requires login auth cookies to work with MS cloud services. Don't ask why I know so much about this crap.

the issue still persisted, I never deleted my pic from MSFT acc, still, I experienced this issue in W10 first, & now, same with W11, take a look at the SS from my current W11 Pro copy photo app, just like what I posted here 8 months ago from W10.

Maybe nuhi didn't pay attention to fixing this because of a single report of mine, if more people are facing this same issue & report here, then he might investigate further.

Can you attach your presets and/or let us know what tweaks you did?

Try this:
1. (Windows Key + R)
2. %appdata%\Microsoft\Windows\AccountPictures
3. Turn on show hidden files
4. Delete existing photos in the folder
5. Go to Settings -> Accounts
6. Then under 'Your Info' scroll down to 'Create Your Picture'
7. Then click 'Browse' and select your desired photo
8. In settings disable syncing, then enable it again

I can share my preset with you if you wish

& here is the SS from that DIR [%appdata%\Microsoft\Windows\AccountPictures]

Nothing except a desktop.ini file

& to answer the questions that you asked in your earlier msg, here's my SYNC settings SS, never changed or turned off anything here

& I add some .REG file in NTL registry section while modding Win ISO

Did you try doing steps 5-8? I've seen Chromebook cloud syncing get corrupted before, so it's possible that's what you're facing here with Microsoft and so it's not loading your picture. Also, the picture dimensions, file size, and file type may be an issue as well. Just some things to investigate at least.

Edit: also it could be a firewall type of issue, if you are blocking certain Microsoft communications, I know that's a really common practice for people trying to avoid Windows Update and so forth.

It's showing everywhere in the windows settings header section (Upper left corner), windows 11 START bottom right corner, inside the Office app account/user information section & office 2021 header section

except for the photo app & sometimes inside the store app, rest all are fine, so it's not any firewall issue, & obviously, my PP is there on my MSFT account page, I visit outlook almost regularly.

Sounds like this is actually a known bug on Microsoft's end. Here's some of the many similar threads:

https://www.tenforums.com/user-acco...ndows-apps-not-showing-profile-picture-2.html
https://answers.microsoft.com/en-us...-profile/9eab8f9d-7b11-405b-9639-0932222e74a2

It looks like Crypticus had linked the 2nd one in his reply, the answer marked as the solution was that it was a MS bug.

I'm sure there are workarounds to "fix" it temporarily, but it's likely not going to be worth the effort, best to just let MS fix it. You can use the FeedbackHub in your settings page to report it again, the more people that do the better chance it has of being fixed.

ok then,

the good thing is then it's not a fault during modding via NTL & am not the only one facing this
&
the bad news is, it is on the MSFT side & they seem to be not caring to fix this bug.

I thought i already gave the answer at "5 Aug 2021" why this thread is still searching for same thing?

you only mentioned two workarounds to try & see if the issue is solved or not, those ain't any definitive answers, you yourself said over there
"you can never know.."
