Hi
Can anyone point me, a noob in the right direction how to install .net 4.8 into my W7 Sp1 Ultimate x64 this pre req is needed for NordVPN
Post install does work but takes a long time as noted in a post somewhere on the forum, BUT to make sure as curiosity got the better I had to try and test :)
Today I came across GImageX - GUI, would this be recommended to try and learn?

Thanks

I didn't know there was an IE Cab, I'm struggling to get IE 11 to install it won't install no matter what I do. I would love to just integrate it and probably bypass the issue.
Do you use the NTLite update list? NTLite fails to integrate IE11? I saw that NTLite lists an .exe for IE11 but he should know how to integrate it. I remember a long time ago using NTLite as a test and I integrated all the updates marked by it from the list of that and everything was integrated correctly from what I remember.

But today I use WHDownloader to download updates and WHD-W7UI script to integrate. In WHDownloader there is the IE11 cab. I've never had a problem integrating IE that way.

In WHDownloader there is a list of prerequisites for IE:
Code:
- If you choose to use rollup KB3125574 (Recommended), you only need:
KB2670838 / General (Prerequisite)
if you already installed KB3125574 before KB2670838, re-install it afterwards

- Without rollup KB3125574, install these updates before installing/integrating IE11:
KB2670838 / General (Prerequisite)
KB3179573 / General
KB2786081 / Extra\WithoutKB3125574\#General
KB2834140 / Extra\WithoutKB3125574\#General
KB2882822 / Extra\WithoutKB3125574\#General
KB2970228 / Extra\WithoutKB3125574\#General
KB2871997 / Extra\WithoutKB3125574\#Security

With WHDownloader and WHD-W7UI you can integrate ESU updates as well.

If you use the Simplix pack it already integrates IE11 and all updates including ESU for Windows 7 and the addon for .NET 4.8 :) but I prefer to use WHDownloader as this does not have superseded updates that are necessary to satisfy Windows Update (I remove this with NTLite from any way).

my Russian isn't quite good enough to read the Simplex link, I am guessing your Russian ? yay translate lol
I also can't read Russian :p I use the chrome translator.

Below are the translated links just click:

i think ESU's can only be installed on a running system. doesnt simplix have tons of drivers in so people were using it to try to install w7 on ryzen? think i tried simplix once and said stuff it.
Officially yes but there is a way to get around this by integrating a certain file from what I remember. I read about it a long time ago and I didn’t follow up on it any more. WHD-W7UI uses this workaround and is able to integrate ESU updates :)

As I recall simplix has a solution for usb 3.0 in Win7 and to unlock Windows Update on certain newer processors. I don't remember having anything else. It also has time that I do not use simplix pack.

ahh,
unlock Windows Update on certain newer processors.
there was a tool that could do that, ahh yes, zeffy. hoping my 880k system still works(in pieces/in storage) cos WU shouldnt be blocked on that, its my(if it works) capture machine for 7 and 8.1.

back to my original ahh, WU on new cpus, do you know which update adds that block or is the damn thing mingled in with big rollups?
does the warning about unsupported cpu's only happen when adding updates or does it appear at other times, i need my memory refreshed.

more than likely, facepalm.

Yeah like that russian ruble update that breaks 13 other updates lmao

Yes I used a combination of Windows update and ntlite to find all the "Useful updates and integrate them" some update features I will never use and or cause problems so they are excluded, I have both of those updates integrated by ntlite. ntlite doesn't seem to integrate a few updates fully and they require post install to make sure they are actually installed.

Current list of non fully integrated updates.

kb2603229 = 32bit Reg Enteries in 64bit windows (Not integrate according to msoft)
kb2852386 = Add Update Cleanup to Diskcleanup Util
kb2791765 = Application Compatibility Update
kb2908783 = Data corruption on iSCSI LUNs + Nvme Hybernation fix
kb4532941 = DotNet Hotfix
kb2835174 = Polish Product Activation Wizard fix
kb2923545 = Remote Desktop 8
kb3125574-v4 = Service pack 2 (Unofficial)

Current list is installed post install though Ntlite's post setup (don't know why it fails to integrate those updates but it's consistent about it.

KB2841134 = Ie 11 = Will not integrate, will not install post install using any version of the standalone installer, will not install through windows update, will not integrate with ntlite on a live system post install displays error message Error 0x80070006 '[6] The Handle is invalid.' Kb2841134 - Internet Explorer 11 - English

it displays the error message twice.

Going to take a look at to see if I can find that cab file and force the issue.

its a smell checker for ie11- update catalog, its not a prerequisite or i would have it. besides, you dont really use ie do you?

I feel bad for it if it's a "smell checker" for I.e

I do not, the question is "If Ie 11 is not install-able what else doesn't work" or more correctly what kind of strange errors will I get in the future because some doorknob is expecting ie 11 to be there and it isn't

I'm not a fan of fixing things, I like to do it once and do it right.

the way i do it ie11, net 4.8 and 3125574 install without a hitch, i posted my list before(but i cant for the liffe of me remember where).
i update an install first, capture then ntlite it. over and above that list of mine im showing about 26 other updates to bring 7 fully updated to eol. thats an awful lot of manually installing things but its paid off. i did post a lite shrink of w7 that gets to about 4.8gb installed.

all my updates(after ie11, net and 3125574) are installed in strict date order(their build date).

My windows 7 installs are in the 23 gb range, with all the updates, and drivers, .nets, C++ redistributes it was about 17 gb before all the C++ redistributes.

4.8 is pretty good, I had an old install of windows 7 that was about that.

Sorry for the long delay. I'm not sure but I think it's an update on the Windows Update client so it's unavoidable. As far as I know the warning only appears during the scan for updates. There was a way around this I think using dism to integrate updates manually. I think the problem is using Windows Update or installing with 2 clicks on the .msu files. But I don't remember for sure.

Understand. I think it's a problem with your host OS. If you use Windows 7 to integrate updates into the ISO try updating it. But the ideal is to have Win8.1 or Win10 for servicing Windows.

I incorporated a Silent Command line switch to install never10 and run it with the appropriate settings which solved the windows End of life/ windows 10 junk.

in terms of internet explorer 11, I did managed to get it working by forcing in a cab file. which solved that problem. so problem solved :)
