Network Share Problem!

Have Windows 10 running on my laptop for a couple of months now since editing copy with NTLite back then, no problem whatsoever, until now.

I got a new NAS server and it will not show up at all. No error messages, nothing, Network just remains empty? Samba sharing, and have tried all the solutions, SMB1/2/3 etc, no difference. Works great via my other Win10 systems, just not this one. Network Discovery and file sharing settings all correct.

I fear I may have removed something during the creation process, and I'd like anyone to maybe pinpoint what this could be? Router doesn't even show up in Network browsing, whereas it does on other systems. Something has broken the Network shares/browsing. Trying to run the Network Trouble-shooter complains that the Diagnostic Policy ain't running, when it is, so it just does nothing in that regard?

Any ideas to save a reinstall? I know its a long shot, but any help appreciated.

Thx guys.

long shot, swap cable. this has worked for me at least twice, recently it saved me over £200 on ebay because seller didnt try it.
any chance you can do a full bore non ntlited install on this laptop, dual boot? if it works on a full bore then its a removal.

. 2nd suggestion, possible? even on a laptop a 2nd active partition is handy when you are up crap creek.

Yeah, planning to do that later today, with the intent of restoring my backup copy if I can find out what's causing it. Was just hoping I'd find out beforehand, lol.

Installed fresh copy, and Network working fine out of the box, so something removed breaks Network Shares. Wish I knew what?, but it's working now. Getting to the point where you cant remove anything now, without breaking something else.

It would be great to have a thread on here detailing what breaks what, if one removes this, etc., for every component in the Win10 system :)

I think it is possible to export preset from unpacked iso image, so with that we might be able to see what causes that issue.

I no longer have the iso though buddy, nor the preset, as it was 2 months ago. The only thing I do have, is a Macrium back up copy of the system drive only.

Yup, although my settings did save, unlike yours, but the end result was the same, no network devices are discovered. This is the problem now. MS are changing things constantly, and a lot of things you may think are safe to remove, are now tied into other things, so it usually ends up breaking something that used to work, but now no longer does. It's a constant minefield is Windows 10.

Will be checking usenet 's preset and if confirmed, bake it into the Network Discovery and File Sharing compatibility options.
I see that he enabled both, so it should not have failed.

scaramonga, make sure to enable those two when making the next image. Also consider host refresh if you want easier change of the existing install. But for now wait for more info today.

Thanks both.

That's great, thx nuhi :) Also, I never knew about the 'host refresh' feature, I may just restore my original backup, and see if I can fix it that way. One learns something every day, Awesome! :D
