New error messages while building

NTLite 1.5.0.5840, Win 7 + SP1.iso to start.

I haven't built an image since May, when I was experimenting with getting WMC to work. Since my license expires in a few days, and since I'm upset at the local broker for charging me sales tax when they shouldn't, I thought I had better try the latest version. (Still, it's probably too late.)

First I re-did the usual vanilla update to the Convenience Rollup to make a base iso. No problems doing that build.

Then I took that as my base image and tried some major surgery on my Rolled Up Windows 7 iso.

On my first try doing that, I got an error from NTLite, telling me of a failure and telling me to reboot. (I should have taken a screen shot. But I didn't.) NTLite gave me a dmp file. First time I've seen that. (I can send that if needed.))

I think the instruction to "reboot" is only appropriate when running Live. So I closed NTLite and started again. Got through it okay the second time.

Then, after playing with my new build in a VM and seeing that I goofed up a couple things, I tried another build, from a copy of my Rolled Up base again.

This time I got another error message. (Attached screenshot.)

First time I've seen this one too.

In addition to getting the message, there was no way to get out of the loop. I had to keep clicking on okay until NTLite finally allowed me to exit.

Your license does not expire, it is a LifeTime License - Shop Page. You will not switch to Free mode after a certain date, you will always run in Licensed mode.:)

Thanks. That's true. But I won't be able to use a fixed version after my license expires.
Yes, you will but you won't get new added features to NTLite after your expiration date, only these new features will be locked in future NTLite builds.

Oh. I wonder how nuhi is doing that? Well, that's cool then. I'm happy with the feature set at this point. Just need them to be bug free.

Tnx.

Take a look at the link posted by Clanger, at Support and upgrades section to learn more.

@pmikep, each premium feature has a date in it, that way you get fixes and upcoming free features in newer versions, only new premium features and Windows version support that required extra work, is locked.

When image errors like the one you described happen, it's most probably an antivirus/antimalware scanning or blocking the file.
Do you have anything in the background and can you suspend it or add the image and mount folders to whitelist?

Otherwise if it always happens, and no protections at all, let me know how to see it on my side.
Error 5 - access denied, is self-explanatory, and if it happens while saving the image, it is Windows image library trying to save the file, nothing I can influence unless there is open handle from the tool itself.

Thanks.

Nuhi, perhaps a sticky topic here, easier to find :) on purchasing and licensing, people thinking their license expires amd may switch to free mode is a common misconception.

A seperate sub forum visible on the Forums page, Purchase and Licensing and another for Activation.

I haven't had any errors for the last 7 builds. It might have had to do with that first crash (from playing with Compatibility) and/or after I confused NTLite by messing with mounting images. (To answer your question directly: No antivirus here, and I don't recall that I had anything heavy duty running in the background.)

@Clanger, maybe :), I thought Shop page explains it nicely - I should add more info in the tool itself.

@pmikep, ok, thanks, keep me updated if something else comes up.

I cant decide which may be better, i defer to your judgement. :)

I have my private translation and changed some default text to another that match the action/option and still, from day to day i do some small corrections. ;)

Example:
"You will stop receiving the new premium options after the day"
Is shorter in my language but i would like to have more room (2 lines maybe):
"Once your license has expired, the new features will be locked
in future versions but you will be allowed to use the already unlocked"
or maybe add a tooltip over a help sign icon .

Putting some text somewhere in the tool might help, since I (obviously) didn't read the Shop page. (It might be that the text doesn't have to pop up until after one's license has expired and after one has updated to a new version with new features. (That is, it's only after two conditions are met when you would have to explain why some features are locked out.))

@Kasual, something like that, thanks.

@pmikep, that is how it is, it pops up because there is a feature existing that is locked. Most common is some new removal or Windows 10 version support.
