No mouse when opening .EXE in unattended installation

I have this weird bug and at this moment i don't know how to resolve it. I have created this app but when it opens after the setup i have no mouse, i can see the visuals moving like there is a mouse but the cursor isn't visible, and at this moment i don't know where this is coming from does anyone has that problem that he had no cursor, and what did you do to resolve this? Because right now i don't know anymore where to look

does this only happen on an unattended install or does it happen if you dont use an answer file? Win 10 i take it? ive had the mouse pointer disappear on win 10 1809 and i always use an answer file for that, seems more a windows bug than the answer files fault. do you do any removals or tweaks at all?

well, i did some testing and it looks like the moment the 'installation' is started the mouse cursor is not loaded yet (i don't know for sure) but i'm gonna test some more and maybe even try to load my own cursor but checking on that.

What i do is convert esd to wim and the wim file load into nt lite and then go to automation and here i load in my exe but like i said, it looks like the cursor is not loaded yet at that stage

do a default install, untouched iso, then update post install and see what the pointer does, my guess itsa windows bug.

well, i did it from an untouched iso, made quick a program that loads a custom cursor and i got the screenshot still got no cursor, in the background you can see windows is still loading, and as soon i close the program it goes to the windows login screen, and 0.2 sec after that the cursor loads. is there any way i can open the app around this with a cursor or am i fucked at the moment? XD

Hi,

the post-setup program execution is before users are created, it's the system itself, for all users only.

To run on a user logon the option is not yet available, you should be able to delay it by integrating a REG with HKCU RunOnce command, but that's up to you to tweak.

There was a similar topic recently, can't find it now.
Basically make a reg file that would runonce in HKCU for current user, then integrate that into the image.
Only tricky part will be guessing the installer path, see in setupcomplete.cmd of the integrated installer, and also remove self-cleanup at the end of it so the files are not removed before user logs on.

Try the Runonce on first logon:
