Keeping urlmon.dll worked and got me thru the installation. (And Never10.exe worked after installation.)

Feature stuff still broken. Not really a big deal, but I'm obsessive. Waiting on nuhi for the fix on that.

And sfc/scannow still reports errors, but says it repaired them. I suppose, ideally, it shouldn't find errors in the first place.

So, after running sfc /scannow and ostensibly fixing errors, when I reboot my NTLite'd Win7 and run sfc exitagain, it says it found "corrupt files" but was unable to fix some of them.

I never had used sfc, does it list the damaged files?
Have you confirmed that the files exists in the drive (windows dir, i believe).

It does, in a very verbose CBS.log file. I'm not smart enough to understand it. (But I bet nuhi is.)

I'm guessing that part of the problem is, as you suggest, that the files are no longer available, having been removed by NTLite. So this might be an intractable problem for NTLite users. (Unless nuhi knows of a way to fake out sfc.)

Maybe in the log file it says that it is missing if already removed, you can take a look at it.

I never mind about sfc, i need to keep it because is necessary for msi (Windows) installers.

I just tried the slmgr -rearm command from an elevated command prompt. It says it worked. But on reboot of Win7, system still showing 3 days to auto-activate. Maybe I took too much out? (But I left Activation stuff in Compatibility.)

Here's my CBS log if you want to take a look at it. The first half is where I ran sfc /scannow for the first time, and it said it repaired some files.

The second half is where I ran it right after that (no reboot) and it said it found some corrupted files that it couldn't fix.

The files seems to be damaged:
C:\Program Files (x86)\Internet Explorer\sqmapi.dll
C:\Windows\system32\drivers\en-US\usbhub.sys.mui

But only C:\Windows\system32\drivers\en-US\usbhub.sys.mui that the hash does not match the actual file.

Have you had any problem with IE/USB?

Wow, that was fast. Apparently you're good at reading those logs.

I had removed IE using NTLite. I will try another build keeping sqmapi.dll in Compatibility.
I am running this test version of NTLite'd Win7 in ViritualBox without USB support. So that might explain the second error.

Thanks!

I'm using Notepad++ and only used Search by 'error', 'missing' and 'not found' keywords without results but 'found', and checked previous and past lines.

There are .cdf-ms related to .NET too, sqmapi.dll is related to CEIP or Customer Experience Index Program (sqm is software quality management i believe).

Okay on Notepad ++. I have that somewhere around here.

I had removed Asimov (CEIP stuff) so maybe that removed sqmapi too? My build is almost done (takes about 30 minutes to make), so I should know shortly about that. (I'll try turning on USB support in VirtualBox too, although I think I installed VBox without that option.)

I tried another build with Windows Activation set back to "default." (I had had it set to "disable" before.") I'm still getting a notice in System that Activation will happen in 3 days, despite slmgr -rearm. Is it just me? (That is, did I take too much out of Clanger's Advanced preset?)

And I can't experiment with USB on VBox just now - I didn't install USB support, so can't enable it to test.

No, not online. And I have the NIC "cable" disconnected in this particular VM. BUT - I just did the slmgr -rearm on an older NTLite'd Win7 Build. (That one has network connectivity, but I don't think that slmgr needs to be on line. (Since you can hack the Registry to get almost a year of rearms.)

It took away the black desktop screen but still says on the System page that I have 3 days to Activate. I'm beginning to think that the counter on the Systems page only goes up to 3 days.

Time will tell.

This is interesting: My previous NTLite'd Win7, where Features works okay, fails sfc /scannow at 22%. That was using NTLite v. 5537.

My new NTLite'd Win7, using 5855 can make it through to 100% on sfc /scannow. Although Features doesn't work right.

I think that's showing progress. (This is like a giant puzzle, with a million pieces.)

I had removed Asimov (CEIP stuff) so maybe that removed sqmapi too?

Asimov is Unified telemetry, other component, not CEIP, i think CEIP exists from XP times, always saw .sqm files somewhere exploring folders in XP.

Have you checked USB in compatibility?

Yeah, USB checked in Compatibility. I suspect that it's simply that I didn't install VBox with USB support. Although why that should cause sfc to barf isn't clear to me. But I'm content to write it off as a VBox issue for now. (Although my current running Win7 Desktop won't get passed sfc /scannow either. And I have hard USB on it. But I have done a few live NTLite's on that over the year. So who knows what state this is in.)

First attempt with Stage 2 resulted in urlmon.dll error.

Is the DISM BaseSettings reset necessary? Is my question. Enlighten me please :)
