Question about live capture

OK so I understand this involves installing the OS and then running NTLITE within the new system, once happy with the live made updates and so forth we then capture image.

My question is this, by this method, don't we nullify some of the original available windows drivers from the original install.wim? I assume also by this method we ofcourse loose other editions from the original install.wim?

Is perhaps live DISM mount preferred for this reason? As this method will ensure original wim content is not lost and only additional data is added in?

Live captures are normally done in sysprep mode, to minimize background Windows activity. The usual process is to generalize, or make the captured image more generic for installation by removing the current drivers and user profiles.

If you're making a captured image for private use, for re-installation on the exact same PC config, then generalize is optional.

To preserve the existing driver setup, run sysprep with a custom answer file.

Thanks Garlin, I was looking to make more of a universal edition for multiple computers so I think this option may be more complex for me in my case.

Decided to trial out IE installation via updates just now, seems to have hanged half way through with little CPU and disk activity, so I think I'll have a long break from this for now.

Not sure how I would go about providing logs for improvement and I don't know what to do now the job is stuck on 50% while integrating updates to the last edition I needed. I'm just stuck with what appears as an idle system and a loading mouse icon, so after already starting fresh by installing April 2016 rollup to all editions it looks like I'm going to have to start over all again, again

Such ashame that I just can't simply reload the just tested ISO that I had made, always progress lost it seems
