Search bar in Windows Explorer won't function

Hi,
a few days ago I clean-installed an NTLite"ned" Windows 10 1909 plus currently available Updates from MS and did a remove reinstalls with NTLite.-
Today I first wanted to use the search in the explorer and noted that the search bar won't let me input anything.
After searching for this I found some hints to set BingSearchEnabled (in HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Search) to 1. But that did not help.
I enclose the preset I used and kindly ask the community or nuhi to have a look on it and - if possible - to tell me which setting causes this poblem ...
1000 thanks in advance and a nice weekend to all.
Peter

i have the same problem here. Interesting is that when i install the os in german search is working. But in english the search does not work...

Hello

I did some more tests.

I have installed a completly clean windows 10 1909 (from msdn) in german -> search is working.
I integrated englisch (en-us) from the language pack (from msdn) using ntlite -> search is not working.

When you need further information do not hesistate to conntact me.

its on 1909 now and it is only happens on ntlite edited iso. vanilla is good to go.

I've yet to test a clean 1909 install but to me it happens even with an untouched 1903 image so it may make sense not happening with an untouched 1909 image after a clean install.

Alt68er, thanks for the mach2 note, it does work. However some users are reporting Windows reverts it back, so a more permanent solution would be needed.
Since I saw that 20H1 does not have this issue, it's actually only on 1909, I'll keep Cortana until then. If it's still an issue, or a better solution (policy to disable search suggestions?) is found that works, I'll tackle it.

ege914, we can continue in your other thread, current state is that I cannot replicate your other issues, so once we track that down, maybe this goes away too. Breaking Metro/Appx deployment during setup may pull all these issues along.

lua, if only integrating a language pack, doing nothing else, breaks Search box for you, then it's a Windows issue, maybe try searching around, let us know if you narrow it down - I'm here if something is isolated to NTLite.

Ok funny thing- the search wasnt working. After Ive removed a ton of stuff in the live windows version, it started working again. I didnt change anything else. ;)

So Cortana isnt actually required for this to work. I dont exactly know what I removed. It is easier for me to show you what is left in my Live Windows version. :d

When wusa or something related with windows update runs, windows search starts to run again... i also experienced this many times but couldn't explain to nuhi . he says it works. i say it doesn't.. also u said.

Any more news on whether Cortana can been removed from 1909 using later versions of NTLite and keep the search bar working?
