[Solved] Adobe Premiere Pro 2021 and 2022 freezing with splash screen

Sysinternals / ProcMon has many snapshots on Wayback Machine - Internet archive.

In the past, I found the old version that I needed in a similar situation (support for WinXP ended).

Thanks for your hints. I'll try now DependencyWalker and/or ProcessMonitor.
If that doesn't help I'll do a clean/full Win11 install and then Premiere. Then I'll run Live removals in small batches and see what will happen...
In the meantime I did it and found out - contrary to what I said before - that in real the Media Player was the reason. I don't know what I did wrong when testing it before but on the newly installed live system removing the media player caused exactly the problem I had.
Thank you so much for your assistance and help and pardon for having wrongly reported about WMP...

you can disable media player as features. but don't remove it. media player was always needed for some stuff. i think its dependency will be gone in next major updates like windows 12-13 since everything is slowly going into UWP mode but keeping legacy editions at least for one or two major update. like paint, notepad, iexp etc

nuhi AeonX uses Sony Sound Forge 9. Sound Forge(and other Sony software were later bought by Magix). All Sony SF versions up till the final SoundForgePro-11.0-Build299 are 32bit only.

Suggest option to keep the 32bit files. 32 and 64bit versions of both dll's in system32 and syswow64 only come to 7mb max. I expect there are differences in the later Magix versions.

I don't remember if wmasf.dll was needed by Premiere but I keep that as it is eventually needed by some program anyway.

Clanger I've tested all these programs and some need the 2 files others don't, and I can't remember which one needs the 2.

I have to move on to documenting my tests :p

Keep the 32 and 64bit versions of both files, they are only 7-8MB in total.
Ive seen the size of some of the Pro stuff, holy sh*t, and people are gonna bitch about 7-8MB of ms files?
