Win10 Pro 1903 - Live Install is destroying my active Win8 install

HelloJackson

This is bothersome. I install nLite v 1.9.0.7455-64bit. I have Win8 installed on my machine and I want to make an ISO file to install Win10. I load the original ISO and load it.

I then start to make customizations to my new proposed operating system for Win10 and I LOSE my settings on my original Win8 install. Specifically most all of the files in the directory: C:\Users\Gary\AppData\Roaming. This effectively wipes out my live version of Win8. I have NOT clicked on apply so I don't understand why Live install is updating and destroying my Win8 install.

I then have to restore an image of Drive C using Acronis and start all over. I've lost about 10 hours doing this.

My question is: How do I make nTLite NOT make modifications to my live version of Win8 and still be able to create my new ISO for Win10?

Well s**t. Just lost the C:\ProgramData directory. So you are right. It's Acronis True Home that is destroying that directory.

Should I disable the services that Acronis True Home uses or uninstall it entirely before making my images?

Attached are the win10.xml preset file and the NTLite.log

This is getting rather ridiculous. I uninstalled Acronis True Home. Recreated my proposed changes. I am still losing my C:\ProgramData directory.
Secure boot is disabled.
Windows ADK Kit is NOT installed.

In spite of that I still continue on and try to create the image.

When I do so I get this error.

Process-Error1-2020-06-08.jpg

It doesn't say WHAT driver couldn't be found. Doesn't help much.

These are the drivers I am loading:

I need some positive direction on what to do. I need to get this image created and installed.

A question. If I install the untouched image I already have can I load drivers when the install starts? I know I need to load my storage drivers and USB drivers. How does one load the drivers when they're not on the image?

When NTLite is integrating the drivers, move the scroll bar down to know which driver is being installed, if is not visible, "expand the integration process" by click on the arrow located on the left side of the progress screen. Other option is going to the temporary folder and open the text file called ntlite.log, there should be the error logged.

Next to sources folder (not inside), add a folder called $WinPEDriver$ and put in there the drivers' folders with *.inf files.
Here is the preset

The ntlite.log file is also needed.

Drivers are not being installed on the following. I've included the NTLite.log and the NTLite_dism.log files as attachments.

boot.wim Microsoft Windows Setup (x64)

When integrating drivers and having files missing, make sure that the driver package had all the files that went with it.
To see exactly what was missing at the moment of the error, open:
[MountDirectory]\Windows\Inf\setupapi.offline.log
and search for errors at the end.
It's Windows API that is reporting those things.

[MountDirectory] - right-click the loaded image on the Source page and Explore Mount Directory.

Regarding the programdata dissapearing, it can always be that you have a virus of sorts, make sure to scan with an antivirus and/or antimalware tools.

And scan your drive for file system errors, from the elevated command line:
chkdsk c: /f
and reboot

Activations solved, replied over email.
