Win11 Paint Bug after using NTLite

Windows Paint doesn´t save or open pictures to or from Windows 11 File Explorer anymore. The moment i touch the file tab of paint, i receive an error message and paint closes after confirming. This only happens when i try to use the marked file tab for saving or opening a picture. If i use the save button (floppy symbol) on top of it, the file explorer opens without any problems and i can save in every format i want.

Another bug is that i removed Windows 11 first steps (Host for Windows Web Experience) with NTLite but the icon is still in the Apps of the Start Menu and the experience can be startet.

I upgraded my 194 to 258, and old Paint can still open files. This means REMOVING something breaks either program.
You two should compare presets.
 
Can you save edits? See from my preset that something goes wrong in my W11 preset:

Can see i've to change UserLocale manually in unattend section (da-GL to da-DK) - maybe from reusing preset from Win10 19044.1288 on W11 .258? Haven't tested yet if that change anything.

I test later this week (coz of work) and see if problem persist. But thanks for try.
In W11 MS Store have a new way in the menu to go (manually) find Apps updates - most people relay on WU do this!

I prefer to wait for nuhi´s result and solution to this problem. My tests showed me enough already and i don´t want to make everything more complicated than necessary. Only someone that is following my detailed explained tests step by step can really understand and find out what´s going on. This case definitely needs a deep look into it and only the developer is able to do that.

I installed preset '65b9e736', and Paint worked.
'15b1c230' (258) and '65b9e736' (194) are equivalent.
{054B5169-A4C1-4C86-AAD0-0EF96669DD46} is a W10 preset, when loaded and saved as W11, worked.

We need to debug MS Paint with a simple tool, Process Monitor (Microsoft). Run it as Administrator, and add a Filter rule:

[Menu] Filter -> Filter
Process Name -> contains -> paint -> then Include -> Add

Click on the square "corners" icon next to the floppy, to begin logging. Run Paint, and try opening the file. After it crashes, you can save the capture log. This will be faster than testing new images.
 
Thanks again for your help and work garlin. I will try to follow your example and report back. But will the result of all this help nuhi to fix the problem in NTLite later on? Because i´m not going to patch this myself in any way. This is not my style!

Thank you, that's exactly what I needed. francis11 reported the same error, was hoping to get his log.
 
Sorry, I have not found anything definitive. The major difference is in my image it appears Paint opens up the user profile looking at AppData\Local and checks the registry whether to update Recent Files or not. For your logs, it doesn't. The user account is named "Admin", but is it an Administrator only account or just a normal account?

It is an Administrator only account because i´m the only one who uses this PC. Therefore i have all rights and never have to run programs as an Adminstrator or get ask for Administrative rights, which would jump in my nervs.

Today i saw that nuhi was showing up again in one thread and fervently hope that he has also time to pay attention to mine because i extended my license only to use NTLite for Win11 and now i can´t because of this bug. It makes no sense for me to ignore the bug and have to start all over again once it is fixed. All this is really frustrating for me because i can´t change anything myself and have to wait for help.

As test, create a normal user and try it out before deleting the account.

I created a guest account and changed Administrator to Standard but the Paint bug remains. Anyway, i could have told you that before because the bug has principly to do with NTLite removals or settings and not with user accounts in any way.

The problem remains the same, without nuhi´s help in this case i can forget about a solid Win11Lite.
