Windows 10 China Government Edition

A little late to the party because I have only just stumbled across it :p
Just curious, has anyone played around with this and what are your experiences?

Zero telemetry sounds amazing, I am currently trying to get my hands on a recent ISO, will be interesting to see how well NTLite plays with it.

Had to look up "Windows Lite" - Did not even know such thing was being worked on, very interesting. I don't think the two are related though, China Gov Edition was created because the Gov did not want to be spied on, it's not intended to be used by normal consumers, I doubt Microsoft will completely kill their spyware in the Lite edition or any edition for that matter, The "free" upgrades to Windows 10 and making it the last version was a very clever move, they make money by invading our privacy and serving interest based ads / selling to data brokers, it is surely more profitable than their previous strategies, still not been able to make the jump to Linux yet... so for now I shall be exploring all options to make Windows more private.

Chinese government, no spyware/telemetry? yeah right. Windows 10 "lite"? Im not holding my breath.

The latest ISO I found was on 1803 and apparently the OS gets no updates either, gotta patch manually, meh, should probably just stick with LTSC.

For basic online duties, web shopping, cat videos and email Debian with Mate desktop is fine and you can use a live cd/dvd and have got me out of crap creek several times.

I was using Lmde for a little while, its nice but does not fully cut it for gaming just yet, Could dual boot I guess.

I have sucessfully made a homebrew ISO in English (Was a lot of messing around), however it seems like it's very finicky with removing components, I am going to continue playing around with it and see how it goes but other than that it runs great and is very functional.

LOL, tell that to LTSC users.

Having previous knowledge of this business space, Chinese Government Edition wouldn't necessarily be telemetry free. "Telemetry" can be defined in many ways, such as normal crash reporting, collecting data on installed editions and updates, etc. Whatever data flows are negotiated with, and approved by the authorities.

To do business in China, Microsoft operates China-only datacenters as the only place this data can be stored. These datacenters are staffed by Chinese nationals (no foreigners are allowed access), and must provide data on government request. If you're outside China, your telemetry is stored in global locations subject to local law (US, EU, etc.)
