MT_ you mentioned a tool to see whats running, not autoruns, summat else, refresh your brain please and give me a link :)

Seems fiddling with most 'boot' (0) startup level just makes windows BSOD, even putting ErrorLevel to Ignore. Like ReadyBoot and Bitlocker stuff still BSOD's i think. Most auto start or system level can be tinkered with.

Still wondering if somehow this can be overridden.

MT_ i need a Services export list only showing service name and startup type columns please :)

Yea well, timing is never the best :p People should just retroactively add the changes if they still use an old build, or reinstall :p

Where would you get this from? Maybe just export services registry hive :p

I'm really not sure what Qwave's purpose is. It seems to work in conjunction with Discord as well, but I can guess it either tags DSCP on specific network data out (Which would only work one way, and could already be done in windows without Qwave), can only be local based (On this host) so proper QoS is out of the question to begin with. Its much better to just QoS on the router level (with proper linux implementation) for the whole network to ensure priority. Just tagging egress UDP packets high priority is not going to do anything anyway without proper support on the relevant support parts of the network.

In general Qwave sounds like not such a great idea, another service to clog up memory.

Open services.msc - toolbar-Action-Export List. toolbar-View-Add/Remove Columns. Got QWAVE(and driver) and MMCSS disabled, no problem with and without asio in REAPER Foobar2000, video with wmp and VLC.

Ive killed Task Scheduler, need to back track :(

Does it also do save process affinity and stuff? Thats why I originally got ProcessHacker (Nightly build)

Dynamic timers vs static fixed hz timers both have benefits and drawbacks, in Linux land a dynamic tick kernel has higher throughput, but higher latency/jitter vs lets say 1000hz tick kernel. It can very well be true that disabling dynamic ticks will also reduce fps throughput a tiny bit, but my tests shown this to be negligable (pretty much within margin of error), and frametimes/0.1%/1% lows slightly increased.

Because with dynamic tick kernel it waits until it has to do something, and often it coalesces various tasks at once but this can also mean increased load spikes at these intervals, fixed interval tick kernel will just do whatever has to be done as soon as possible so it spreads out more evenly.

At least, thats my theory on it.
makes sense to me too. and thanks so performance is not a deal when reducing timer :) i see some people saying disable dynamic ticks reduces their stuttering it makes sense since it might reduce inputlag and they feel the game more responsive right ? but when at the same time getting slightly less frametimes/0.1%/1% i think its not noticeable for many people as the inputlag of dynamic tick (if there be an input lag increase)

that what i said about acronis true image service it makes my windows bsod if i disable startup of it at boot time i dont know why o_O

Thats actually really weird. Is there some free trial? I really hate all these backup solutions just adding services/driver. Aomei does this too.

Pretty sure they can just use windows volume shadow copy with minimal dependencies.

Edit: Yuck, trying the trial version of 600+MB, it adds roughly 20+ entries to my autoruns, 6 services, like 5 drivers, this is an instant red flag for me. Its almost as much entries as my windows installation. Totally unnecessary for a backup solution. LOL. Now I'm not surprised things start going downhill if you disable parts of it. This is software to avoid like the plague.

I've never had problems with aomei backupper, which also adds an (optional) service and maybe one or two kernel drivers, its not perfect but at least cleaner, and has usb boot rescue disk, all you need really.

Edit2: Disabling driver entries totally destroy the bootup, BSOD. Not even going to burn my hands on this.

i disabled every thing about it as much as it was possible he is sleeping most of the time now :D yeah its huge app
i really love it cant say how many times i survived because of this many files lots of windows restore and i like it entirely revert everything back to previous state because its true image of windows :) you can restore its backups to other machines too which is mybe not a good idea tho but it cost a lot i know

Mhh. Im tempted to just use something like dd if=/dev/sda | gzip > /path/to/image.gz and make some easy boot cd's for it with pre-made scripts.

But yeah use whatever you think works! :) I must say with AOMEI I have never once failed to restore a backup either.

Clanger Question, do you know if one of the logging reg tweaks keeps it from creating CBS.LOG after using sfc /scannow ?

Normally it creates one but not now :-(

MT_ here are the default values for cbs logging. might have to run elevated, reboot.
Code:
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Component Based Servicing]
"EnableLog"=dword:00000001
"EnableDpxLog"=dword:00000001

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\WOW6432Node\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Component Based Servicing]
"EnableLog"=dword:00000001
"EnableDpxLog"=dword:00000001
