Windows 11

Getting this message while trying to do an in-place upgrade from one of my desktops equipped with 2nd Gen i5 2500K+Intel DH67BL mobo from W10 21H2.1620 to W11 22000.469 (modded via NTLite latest version to bypass the TPM & CPU system requirement).

After accepting installation is in progress as usual

What does this mean? If I install W11 in this system then I won't get any LCU or other updates via the windows update channel? Or is that just Micropsft's way to falsely warn & enforce the users to buy new hardware?

P.S: I did the same in-place upgrade from W10 to W11 via this same iso in different systems a couple of days ago, one shaving 6th gen CPU & another one is having 7th gen CPU so far, never got this message earlier

Update:
1st installation done from 1% to 100% with no issue, then rebooted automatically & in post screen started installing

after sometimes, it showed this

& finally, after automatically reverting to W10, & after logging into W10 again, this message appeared on the desktop

Error Message:
We couldn't install windows 11 0x8007042B 0x2000D
the installation failed in the safe OS phase with an error during migrate_data operation

Any suggestion/advice related would be appreciated, thanks.
8007042B - 0x4000DAnalyze log files in order to determine the file, application, or driver that is not able to be migrated. Disconnect, update, remove, or replace the device or object. The installation failed during the second boot phase while attempting the MIGRATE_DATA operation.
This issue can occur due to file system, application, or driver issues.

Setup.exe performs the bypass checking from where it runs.

For a clean install, it's WinPE (Setup) environment and bypass keys must be integrated into boot.wim.
For in-place upgrade, it's the current host which is running Setup. Integrating the bypass keys into install.wim has no effect, because it doesn't apply to the live host.

Load this reg key on every in-place host, before running Setup:

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\Setup\MoSetup]
"AllowUpgradesWithUnsupportedTPMOrCPU"=dword:00000001

NTLite has a "Setup requirement - TPM and SecureBoot - Host", which does the same locally. This doesn't carry over to another PC.

Bypass checks only apply to Setup's execution. After Windows is installed, they have no meaning. As you've noted previously, a different set of reported reg keys disable the post-install HW warnings.

MS hasn't blocked updates yet. IMO there won't be major change as long as there's HW shortages in the PC world.

This proves my point about AllowUpgrades.

nice to see they wont ban the work around but will slap a tag on your computer saying it doesn't meet requirements

I resolved that issue by clean installing W10 first at the host machine
Then after the clean installation of W10 21H2.latest, did in-place upgrade via the same (Modded) W11 ISO that was failing earlier

& for the NTL modded W11 Iso, I did apply all the three "Setup requirement" related options in the NTL settings page & also re-applied that to the boot.wim as instructed there in NTL. No issue so far for upgrading /clean installing even on a 2nd gen system

But now, am facing an issue, I can't pin anything in ms office suite packages i.e. word & excel, neither any recently opened documents are showing over there, showing this

Is there any NTL settings or registry tweaks available to bypass only this? I don't wanna show recently opened items anywhere else like in Start, Jump Lists, and File Explorer, only want them to be listed under word, excel & adobe dc etc.

Disabling NoRecentDocs prevents Office from managing recently opened documents. MS encourages devs to use the same recent document history for consistency. Even if the unwanted side effect is crapifying Start Menu, jump lists, etc.

PS - Turning off NoRecentDocs also crashes Paint when you open/save files. Same design issue.

garlin I found the reg key & value to enable it

Here is the tweak

Code:
Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Policies\Explorer]
"NoRecentDocsHistory"=dword:00000000

[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Policies\Explorer]
"NoRecentDocsHistory"=dword:00000000

nuhi should consider adding this into NTL.

I was not aware of that thread/issue, but in my case, keeping the "NoRecentDocsHistory" off [dword:00000000] or on [dword:00000001]
doesn't affect the paint, after reading this I tested in both situations (On or Off), maybe the bug has been fixed by MSFT or nuhi

Tagging francis11 if he can add more to this.

Meanwhile, in another case

unlike W10, W11 doesn't have the feature where any file/folder/document stored in the local disk drive, can be easily found while typing & searching directly from the START? Is that feature been depreciated or I am missing something?

Also, when I tried to click on this to check the search settings, the windows setting app is crashing immediately

I'd repost the problem (with a preset) under Q & Reports. This question is too specific for W11 general news & tips.
Thanks.

As the error says, the mistake is somewhere after the upgrade while migrating data.
I also get this from time to time, 10% of time was NTLite's mistake, those got fixed, while other 90% simply incompatibility with something I installed.
Reinstalled, then the same ISO works with an upgrade.

In other words a Windows limitation for migration, if you see otherwise, let me know how to replicate - also bug reports/questions in the Windows 11 thread won't be answered in most cases, difficult to track.

Earlier I updated that matter over here

In short,

I solved that by installing the latest W10 21H2 stock ISO first in the targeted system & then,
followed by an in-place upgrade via W11 Modded ISO (For bypassing the HW requirement)

Now, the only major issue am facing with W11 (modded installation) is this that I posted lately

Smart App Control is part of Insider Preview, and may change before official release. NTLite adapts as it always does.
