Windows 11

is steamOS still a thing ?
Yes. I would recommend a lightweight OS like Linux Mint xfce or Lubuntu. Install Steam on it and you got Proton. With Proton most of the games will run on Linux. But there is still problems with anti-cheat systems. But AMD and Valve work together for a better gaming experience on Linux. And if Im not mistaken Valve try to do something with launchers and anti cheats couse the release of Steam Deck is coming and they want better compatibility. Linux gaming is better and better. I saw some tests where Proton's avg fps was lower but 0.1% low was 20% higher than on Windows 10.

Windows 11 for me: Too much security. So much that I want to stay away from it.
On Windows 11, VALORANT will need secure boot and TPM 2.0. This is insane.
I will stick to older Windows versions + Linux as long as possible.

i repeat
ms "security" keeps everyone out except ms.

get yourselves a copy of windows 10 and a tin of this and get to work.

despite its downsides if you want to use new hardware with an igpu LTSC looks like a very good option. ive found it stable enough for my needs, resources still need a lot of work though :(. the least worst option.

its all fun and games to talk about TPM and other security for people don't need it. but do not forget that there are millions of people who have tons of money and they will use every bit of security for their pc... including every single update or hardware. also regular people who don't understand about computing world will always try to get the newest version of everything since they just want to use the latest like everybody else. thats why some people use iphones and mac.

also i believe that these security improvements will really save someones ass one day without even realizing it did.

i loved ltsb and ltsc in the past. but they are not supported by some softwares in 2021. so with win10 same thing will happen over time. So i will use win11 and using it right now. the reason i bought ntlite in the first place was this. I will remove some, tweak some, and win11 is great for me just like it was with every other os in the past

each to their own and according to ones needs + requirements :)

well .... i spoke too soon regarding driver issue.........

damn stick of mem started failing, causing those errors. brain farted and crapped the rest of my hair out. but im still waiting for proper 11 drivers before going back

after reading that, they can still stick 11 up their AGP slot. 'OLD' machines getting 0 updates ? definately sticking on LTSC now.

if i had old pc and won't be able to use windows update, then i would remove it. then store won't work and i would remove it too... and i always remove security center+defender... so i get basically LTSC?..... then i would just use ltsc and install store on it.... and install updates via hostrefresh if needed...

but same/less/more effort goes for windows home/pro since we are all ntlite users. but random people can use ltsc
