ZephyrStarhas got Windows 7 64bit installed on a Socket AM4 Ryzen 7 2700X and X470 motherboard using standard(unmodified) Chipset drivers.

AMD Chipset Package version 18.10.0418 is listing support for the X470, X370, B350 and A320 chipsets and Gigabyte is officially supporting w7 on AM4. Current Chipset drivers(chipset only, not display). Previous Chipset drivers.

Note - This is not a preset topic, it is only for installing Windows 7 on Ryzen 2000 Socket AM4, any presets mentioned here will be part of the main preset topic.

Barebones was compiled for my needs and is not suitable for beginners and even has given grief to experienced people. I recommend the w7-lite stage2 preset.

Details of the Ryzen 5 2500X and Ryzen 3 2300X are starting to surface. Looking at the 2300X's 8MB L3 cache it may well be a single CCX chip.

Edit - Quote "AMD showcased two models of the 2nd Generation Ryzen Threadripper processors, the flagship model which boasts a monstrous 32 core and 64 thread configuration and another variant with 24 cores and 48 threads. The models AMD showed use the same four die CCX configuration which is being used on the current Ryzen Threadripper processors which are connected via the Infinity Fabric Interconnect. While AMD had two of the dies disabled on the previous processors, the new 2nd generation processors will be using all four dies (enabled). Unquote. Source

See attached jpeg(saved from the source article) and read the quote above. What do you see?

32 cores divide by 4CCX = an 8C/16T CCX. A Ryzen 1000 CCX is 4c/8t. AMD have already managed to put out single CCX processors in the shape of the Raven Ridge apus so they can make a single ccx processor aswell as the 2 ccx ones, so a ThreadRipper 8c/16t ccx may trickle down to Ryzen 7 5 and 3 series processors. If a single ccx has 1 or more defective cores then we may see what we had with Athlon II X3's. I had an x3 and it was a damn decent little cpu.

The article is on 12nm ThreadRipper so we could have this for Ryzen 3 5 and 7 this year. If not this year then it is possible with Ryzen 3000 on 7nm next year. On Socket AM4 which has working Windows 7 drivers. Powerful and relatively inexpensive cpus on low to mid range motherboards running windows 7, count me in.

Now if Lisa Su could sort out the lack of sata ports on their chipsets i would be happy. I have got 8 on my A88X FM2+ ffs.

32 cores with SMT bumps right against the Windows 64 "logical CPU per group" limitation. OP
