Windows 7 - Issue w/KB3191566 + Build with all optional components integrated

Normally you don't save preview updates on download lists.

Download file information on KB4539601, KB4534310 (scroll to the bottom).
Open in Excel, sort by Date descending. Check the File Version. voila! -- 9601 was rushed out to cover MS' a**.

abbodi86 knows his onions.
I've gathered that, based on his many postings that I've come across lately. I hope he will drop in and comment on this "supersedance" issue.

abbodi86 - does a list of non-superseded (or even a list of those that are superseded) updates/hotfixes for Windows 7 exist somewhere? (preferably including everything, not just "Security" updates or only what is pushed by Windows Update; I think that's already been handled here)

KB4519108 - DST changes in Windows for Norfolk Island and Fiji Island: October 2019 (optional)
Haha... I hadn't looked up the KB number yet, only took the Update Catalog at face value when it referred to this one as "Update Rollup"

...If you want to disable their microcode update (for performance reasons on older CPUs):...
That's what I was looking for; if it causes problems without providing any real solution to a different problem then it's to be avoided. Scratch those, lol.

WU purged all KB's classified as hotfixes when W7 was EOL'ed. Some fixes rolled over into the CU, but the majority were never explained as superseded or not. Most up-to-date users have never complained about the missing KB's (except for NVME).

There's a crap load of historical knowledge which hasn't aged well, especially in the last two years before EOL. People moved on to W10 by then, and lost interest. Best answer is testing your build.
Here's hoping the expert will have a few words on this. I looked up the first KB number on my list from WSUS, which was KB2393802. Based on reading the article and comparing the versions of the files listed with those on my new VM test setup I think that one can be safely ruled as superseded. But it would take a very. long. time. to do this for that entire list, which contained about 250 updates prior to excluding those that did show as being replaced and/or those matching ones I've already integrated.
2020-01-windows6.1-kb4539601-x64.msu? wonder why thats not on the download list.
My reaction exactly... lol. You use the list, expecting the list to give you the "best" solution(s), only to find that it really doesn't give you the best solution and you need to go back and do it again now that you've learned more arcane information... :p

There are a number of different solutions but wumt+wsusscn2 proved to be the best option for me. Download list then manually get the msu's, date each one, install each one in date order, find the "not applicables", find and discard the superceededs, run wumt multiple times till it was fully satisfied. Certainly less time that you have spent on this thread so far and you aint even finished yet.

What's the issue exactly? :)

all updates in WHDownloader list are not superseded
except the updates under Extra\WithoutKB3125574, they are all superseded by KB3125574

Conflicting information abounds..!

Seems like everyone has their own list of what updates are needed, and all differ from each other in at least some small way. Most are just trying to satisfy Windows Update, which is fine I guess, but I care more about having the last available versions of files rather than what WU says, and I know WU does not offer everything to begin with. (Even hotfixes/updates that did not apply to my system I would at least archive in the event they're needed.)

I actually started out using WHDownloader files from your list; (originally was going to make a run without KB3125574 but NTLite didn't like a bunch of the files from the WithoutKB3125574 category; now I see these may be garbage .HTM files based on a post at MDL) but ran into a problem with KB3191566 as reflected in the earlier posts. After this I decided to leave out KB3191566 and anything else that doesn't directly integrate until later.

At that point I got sidetracked from the WHDownloader list; was trying to get all of the "optional component" packages installed first, then KB3125574, then non-superseded rollups...

I ran several builds, having to start from scratch each time after finding out something had to be done in a certain order, or that "DISM Compatible clean update mode" did not work on 7, or that something I had used was superseded, etc etc. Very frustrating.

So I finally arrived at a build that includes all of the optional component packages and satisfies WU; but I go back to review updates I collected with other tools and find WSUS Offline Update downloaded over 250 updates.. I haven't purged this list of ones I've already added yet, and I assume a good number of these are superseded, but it's hard to believe they are all irrelevant...

One example of the conflicting info I'm talking about; garlin said that the Windows Update Agent packages are cumulative and to discard the older "WindowsUpdateAgent-7.6-x64.exe" package, but this is still in the WHDownloader set. Also it appears KB4539601 replaces both KB4534310 and KB4539602 which are in the set...

Mainly I wanted your input on what is and is not superseded in order to be able to know whether or not the WSUS files are worth fooling with. If the WHDownloader set is considered to "cover everything," then I will go back and compare it to what I have done and see what's left.

You are welcome to follow WHD-W7UI installation order:
- SHA1 SSU KB4490628
- SHA2 Update KB4474419
- SHA2 SSU KB4536952
- General updates (excluding Convenience Rollup KB3125574)
- IE11
- RDP
- ADLDS
- RSAT
- WMF
- Hotfixes
- Windows 10 related updates (KB2952664, KB3021917)
- Exclusive online updates, added offline with a workaround (KB2603229, KB2646060, KB3046269, KB4099950)
- Security updates (excluding latest non-ESU KB4534310, KB4539602, KB4532945)
- ESU updates
- Convenience Rollup KB3125574

Yes, KB4539601 contain the same fixes in both KB4534310 and KB4539602
but on the WU metadata level, because it's a Preview Rollup, it doesn't "replace" Security Rollup (KB4534310)

and because WHDownloader don't care about satisfying WU, i chose to keep KB4534310 and KB4539602

WindowsUpdateAgent-7.6 is left for compatibility
it's not needed with KB3125574 or Monthly Rollup
