Windows 7 Platform Upgrade (KB2670838)

I am currently using ntlite version 1.5.0.6025 (latest). After integration and customization and checking windows update in a virtual environment it indicated that kb2670838 needed to be reinstalled. However, that update is included in the build originally (Note preset, file attached). This is a very key update as it contains directx 11. This could be the reason I get a video card driver crash while using virtualbox. After, reinstalling the issue goes away.

Then, when I ran my Preset with removals, NTLite apparently removed KB2670838. (It doesn't show up in the Windows' Updates List in Control Panel.)

Any logs I should attach to help trouble shoot this?

Try not removing drivers related to image devices (camera/scanner) and if you want to go further, keep all graphics related drivers.

pmikep, if NTLite removes an update, you don't need it as it was tied exclusively to a removed component.
That said, I can check which exact component is it, which preset from this topic do I try?

Thanks.

I had compared post #1 and post #31 (Win7.SP1 + SP2 + drivers + remove fonts keyboard language) presets, matches are drivers, keyboard layouts and languages.

Here's a Preset where KB267838 gets removed from my Win7 Convenience Rollup Base that has KB267838 integrated in it.

As far as needing or not needing KB267838, I had discovered years ago that I needed it for BlackMagic's Resolve video editor to work in Windows 7. (To support mp4 files within Resolve.)

As I've written since then, I can install KB267838 manually, from inside Windows. (It says that it's prerequisite if I want to update to IE11.) If it was tied exclusively to a component, and if I had removed that component, would it still install? (It does install. So it seems that it's happy with the component it sees.)

I am having this issue as well. KB2670838 is included in Updates, but when the image is loaded it doesn't show the KB installed, and WU asks for it as soon as you Check for Updates. Everything else installs. Running v1.6.3.6400 under Win 7.

No word on this? I bought the Professional license, and my wish is for Windows 7 (as well as 8.1) to continue to be supported in NTLite at least as long as Microsoft supports the operating system. We still install and use them.

mistermoody, thanks for the heads up, since this is still an issue for you, will check on it these days and report back.

Yes, it is still an issue with me as well. I haven't changed my preset at all (customization).

The only changed I made is I am now using your new windows downloader updater. (Well done) It has reduced the number of updates from 97 to 58. I still have to reinstall kb2670838 via post setup install after. I haven't delved to deep into this. But it appears that it is related to xps viewer and language fonts.

If you have been watching, Microsoft will be extending support for Windows 7 for 3 years past 2020, at a cost. Not sure what that cost is.

Latest update was released due to 1809 requirements.
Does not include a fix for this, still actively working on it.
