Windows 7 - Removing Media Center severely breaks something

I'm not sure in which build this started happening, but it is definitely happening in the current build (1.8.0.7046). I also know that Removing Media Center used to work just fine in an earlier build.

I've tested this in both just the base Windows 7 SP1 image with nothing else configured, as well as one with many updates installed. I have only tested this in an Virtual Machine in VirtualBox, which I have always used for testing. I have not tried this on a real machine yet

Here is what happens and how to reproduce:
-Remove the Media Center component - in the preset, it is "<c>mediacenter 'Media Center'</c>"
-Install that image in a VirtualBox virtual machine that is configured for Windows 7
-The screen that says "Windows is finalizing your settings" hangs for a bit longer than usual
-When Windows loads up, The network adapter doesn't work and there are a bunch of failed "devices" that failed to install drivers

I am not set up to test this on a physical machine yet, but I have no confidence in removing Media Center based on these results at the moment. I'm hoping for acknowledgement about this issue and a resolution in the future, as I spent over a day isolating it down to that one component removal that was breaking Windows.

Thanks for the report, yes, the driver removal in Windows 7 may be broken currently.
Will work on it today and tomorrow for potential fix release.

Removing any component related to drivers causes this issue, you can make sure if you keep Media Center and remove something else like Mobile PC.
If you are in a hurry to workaround this, PM'me.
