Windows 7 - Updates Download List 2018-02

For now, i have the list for x64 to date Jan. 9, 2018 (read the info in the text files for updates not recomended, like GWX and Telemetry).
The list for x86 to date Dec. 13, 2017 needs to be reviewed and updated.

Added KB3118401 (Universal CRT) x86 and x64 on Jan. 14, 2018 (not tested but noted in the list, read coments19-27).

After testing for a long time, here is the list to meet the Windows Update Important updates requests (and almost all optional):

'Important'
Security Monthly Quality Rollup for Windows 7 - Telemetry (user activity collector included)
Windows Malicious Software Removal Tool (KB890830)
KB971033 Windows Activation Technolo gies (WAT)

'Optional'
all Windows 7 Language Packs

As downloading updates with WSUS Offline and integrating it with NTLite, Windows Update always listed missing updates, i had to find out by myself instead of trusting other tools to download all updates and make Windows Updates listed none of them.

All my tests has been in Virtualbox.
After installing some programs or while attempt to install a program, an update could be requested if it is not already installed, despite if it is not listed in Windows Update.

Free Download Manager 3.9.7 Lite is recommended for downloading the updates (menu File - Import - *choose the option that fits your needs)

This is correct:
Kasual, please correct me if I'm wrong...

If I am understanding this thread correctly, one does NOT need to download, install, and run WSUS. Rather, one only needs to download one of the update lists text files you attached to your first post in this thread and then download all the updates listed inside that text file. Then edit the downloaded file, removing comments and deleting updates, such as telemetry etc, that you do not want. A suggested way to easily download all those updates is to use a download manager such as Free Download Manager and direct the download manager to fetch each file, listed as an URL, in the download text file. (In my case, I used DownThemAll by clicking on the Import from File button on the lower left side of the window, and then browsing to the update text file, opening it, then specifying the download directory.)

Once all the updates have been downloaded, one would launch NTLite, and direct it to update the install.wim file with all those updates (i.e. point NTLite at the downloaded directory and turn it loose.)

Is this correct?

These lists are for Windows 7 SP1 but if you have Windows 7 without Service Pack 1, download the corresponding update and add it in the NTLite integration queue list next to those downloaded using one of these lists.

KB976932 - Service Pack 1 for Windows 7 x64

The problem with windows update is that it includes redundant updates. If you integrate an v2 from an update, it will also ask for the v1.

Have you tried WHDownloader? The guys there do a pretty good job and make sure that you have all needed updates and that if WU ask for something it is because it is redundant.

TBH it would be kinda useful if they also did some registry tweak or something to hide the redundant ones.

I have tried to use it but it was difficult and painful for me and never could find a download list..

WSUS Offline Update was the better choice, after installing windows but the best option to make it easier for begginners, has been to add all updates requested by Windows update to a list (need more info), anyway, it still asks for updates (already integrated) after removals.

Difficult, painful and cant find a download list? I dont understand why you say that, its the easiest thing I have ever used for downloading updates.

You dont have to search for download lists! The program already get the lists by iteslf! Open it, left to the drop down menu "select category", click on the blue arrow icon and it will automatically get and update the lists.

If you end up using it, I recommend you to install only the general updates, hotfix and security. Additional and extra, dont touch them unless you read the readmes and you know what they are.

I tried WHDownloader a earlier in the year. IIRC, it's not interactive, in the sense that it downloads the same list for everyone. (Do I have that right?)

Whereas WSUS Offline downloads from within Windows, so it knows what you've already installed and only offers updates for what you need. (It will also uninstall updates later that it installed if it sees that an update is now obsolete or has been replaced.)

Thanks for the instructions, maybe some day i'll give it a try and see how it works.

I made it simple and removed WH Downloader (by accident) but i don't regret, downloaded from MDL but it didn't work for me, maybe it was a buggy release and didn't try to download it again.

WSUS Offline Update have more than what is necessary, it takes too long to download wsusscn2.cab (264 MB) and silverlight x86 and x64 and NTLite detected an update that is being downloaded twice.

An example of WSUS interactivity that I thought about while napping. (Thinking about NTLite while napping? I'm becoming obsessed!) If I don't remove IE from Win7 and run WSUS, it automatically installs a later version of IE. But if I remove IE before running WSUS, it doesn't download the new IE.

I think wsus searches for the main binaries and check the version number to detect if there are newer updates or not but when there are no binaries to update, doesn't download updates.

Hi is it possible to use "WSUS Offline Update" to download the the older updates before it got "Security Monthly Quality Rollup KB4054518" I know you can do it with WHDownloader frome abbodi1406 list but with "KB3125574 Convenience rollup update" instead :O ?

The list i have uploaded doesn't include "Security Monthly Quality Rollup KB4054518" and with wsus you can download security updates only, look at the check boxes in wsus.

Thought i don't knwo how to upadte Windows 7 , but before doing so that , you need to bnackup all the files for your computer , as well as you need to know ,Because once you fail, the data on the entire computer will be deleted, and the computer will crash when it's serious.you won't be able to access your computer .

Added x64 download list.

This is an 'Windows 7 Updates download list' thread only, not a 'How to update Windows 7'.

@Kasual Did you generate this list with a tool or by hand? An awful lot of copy and paste by hand :)

Never mind. uGet solved this downloading all at once thing :)

2018-01 Security Monthly Quality Rollup for Windows 7 for x64-based Systems (KB4056894)

And this is downloadable now as of 13/01/2018 22:01 in Estonia.
Any prerequisites for that one?

I have generated the list by hand, downloaded with wsus and Free Download Manager.

I do not recommend Security Monthly Quality Rollup because includes other updates already in the list and telemetry. I think that update was available already as of Jan.7, seems like Ms is not releasing monthly updates on second tuesdays, found them all available in the Ms Catalog site.

My list exclude a cumulative update because all needed updates are included, if i remove one, that update will come up (316 MB for x86 and 476.9 MV for x64).

So For your update lists no Telemetry, no Rollups.
Got it.

In my list is excluded Security Monthly Quality Rollups (over 200 MB), but there is included GWX (Get Windows 10) and other small telemetry updates, but are separated from the needed/recommended just in case someone wanted to integrate and remove with NTLite to get ride of the WU notification (i think unlicensed users can disable telemetry but can't remove it).

Also i think there is included a .NET update, excluded in WSUS, with this small update integrated, .NET updates are excluded in Windows Upsate.
