Windows 7 - Updates Download List 2018-02

I really like FDM, i used to use Reget, now is gone.
With Reget i learned to transfer files between Windows systems, maybe more than 10 times faster than Win explorer.

I just used your updates files to replace the mess I had. 224 updates as opposed to 509 ! (don't ask) Saved me 1/2 hr of build time and who knows how many headaches after install. From having done similar projects I can tell that it took you a ton of time to do this. So thank you, thank you, Thank You! I'm in your debt. (In case you need someone to mow your lawn or wash your car...)

I really like FDM...

It's funny how subjective our program preferences are. I took your advice and tried Free Download Mgr x64 - ver 5.1.34. The install was 186mb (including 8mb just in lang files)!!! During install it wanted to be the default client for torrents, etc, it wanted a signed pre-nuptial agreement and keys to my safe deposit box. On startup you're presented with a big empty page that just says: "feed me!" There's an icon to set a few settings and that's pretty much it. (everyone's copying Chrome's "minimalist" style as if that's why people used Chrome) No menubar - no nothing. Anyway I had just copied your list of URL's before starting FDM and it grabbed them from the clipboard w/o asking and went to work. And I was sitting there with my jaw flapping looking as a dialog window that also displayed all the updates. And w/o giving it sufficient thought I clicked OK. Now it had 448 files to download! I found the cancel button and killed it before I had updates coming out my ears!

And the I spent the next hr fruitlessly trying to feed it your txt file or paste the list into the right box in an effort to get it to redo what it proved it can do and finally gave up. No, there's no File Menu > Batch Download because there's no Menubar. I'm betting that you have a earlier ver of the program before they "modernized" it. Don't upgrade whatever you do.

Then I uninstalled FDM x64 and tried FDM x86 ver 3.9.7. Not only was the install less than 20% of it's x64 cousin but it's a completely different program. This one has a much more conventional interface and an impressive set of settings to play with. But after wasting another hour of my life I couldn't get this one to do a batch download either. Sigh...

My next try was EagleGet v2.0.4.25. Reasonable install size but wasn't able to get this one to accept your list either. Another 1/2 hr shot.

My last attempt (before I gave up my digital existence forever for a cave up in the Himalayas) was a free, open source downloader called UGet. Approx 35mb on my HD and portable. Simple but recognizable interface w/ an adaquate # of settings. (and not fixated on torrents to the exclusion of everything else like the current FDM) And if you go to File > Batch Download there are 4, count 'em, 4 ways to enter your list of URL's. It just works! What a concept. (2 tips: the download dialog will not ask you where to put these files - that's a global config in Settings. And I found it helpful to configure it to monitor the clipboard (since my list was already there.)

Hope this saves someone from wasting an entire evening like I did.

I'm sorry to hear that.

Building the list took me days to decide and a couple to get all the links in it.

I have edited the post and added the information suggesting to use FDM Lite 3.9.7, it uses 35.5 MB once installed (you can take it anywhere by just drag and drop to another drive).

I forgot to update the update list this month, i´ll do it this weekend.

Thanks for your feedback!

Latest updates i know of:

OK, I used your updates list with no additions or subtractions on my last completed W7 64 Pro build. There were no "reds" in the list on the update page and the integration didn't throw any errors. But IE11 didn't install. Under components I did remove IE8 - I don't know it that might have any effect here.

What can I check to figure out what went wrong?

PS: I downloaded this file and tried to manually install IE but immediately got this error: "Setup can't continue because a more recent version of IE in installed on your computer."

Don't remove IE8, as it is being updated with IE11 and needs some IE8 files.

Having a weird issue with My Win7 Ultimate 64bit version with those updates.
It's a Gigabyte GA-E350N-USB3 v 1.0 motherboard with Gigabit Realtek 8111 LAN chip.
The Lan keeps kind malfunctioning.

It kind of works after a fresh driver install. But after a restart or two the LAN activity led's turn off and the LAN activity icon in Windows shows red X sign on it. Oddly enough sometimes it helps when I unplug the cable and plug it in again. The the LAN port LED's activate and when I put in the cable it starts to work in Windows too. That's not always with success thou.

Tested my cables on another machine. They work fine.
Tested with Linux Mint 18.3 64bit live edition. The LAN port works fine there.

Any ideas?

I did read somewhere there are networking issues with some of the latest w7 updates but i didnt bookmark the page and i cant remember the details.

Me investigate? What did your last slave die of? Its your problem you bloody investigate it. Like i said above "I wouldnt know what to look for anyway, it was a news article i saw. " I always test updates on a test install before installing them onto the main partition or integrating.

Sadly no luck on the irratic LAN behavoiur (meaning it stops working when it has no mood to work).
:(
have tried older w7 sp1 64bit iso's. No dice.

Got any good links for SP1 RTM iso downloading?
Maybe release to market version will not have integrated updates that f up LAN?

This is frustrating.

Also anothe thin when integrating the update list nr 2 for x64, it does not want to integrate IE11. Eventhoug I use the link in the download list, to download the proper en-us version for en-us Windows iso.

Yes I updated NTLite yesterday. I have it installed as Portable, since I was annoyed that regular install needs license update every time I update the program.

I also have redirected the TEMP and Cache folder of NTLite into C:\Program Files\Ntlie\ temp or cache
Since it has been installed as Portable, it is better to make a Backu zip file of the Whole program if needed. So I don't have to use my online activation every time I need to reinstall NTlie on my system.
