true true, saying that, anyone using this bunch of presets should just delete the post setup area, cause there is quite a few directory errors in it, alot of the registry items does not even work, the extra services section is hell to deal with, and in my experience changing the network setting upon install is useless because they seem to just get reverted when you install drivers

He disables KMS license checking, so activation becomes moot. In that case, there is no point "activating" even if you provided a key.

;--- Prevent windows from nagging and checking about license.
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Policies\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\Software Protection Platform]

Yes and no. Global settings, not tied to specific network devices are fine. When you add a new interface, or update drivers, netsh commands are required to re-apply the per-interface settings. Assuming your drivers are integrated, then it's ok to apply them during post-setup. But you're right they're not guaranteed to be persistent.

extreme presets(including my own) can be a bloody menace in the wrong hands and even cause havoc in the right hands :(
i think they do more harm than good.
They are and they do. Seeing as there aren't any well-maintained "moderate" presets around (or I didn't find them), normally my usage pattern with NTLite would be to just do minimal customization by hand (integrate latest upgrades, remove telemetry, disable ads, configure settings to my liking and add minimal registry tweaks).

This time I needed to make a really minimal Windows 10 installation, basically a single app in a VM, for a computer with no extra RAM to spare. Thought it'd be a good use of that preset.

i may have a recent services file which may help for both the host and the vm.
do you ntlite the host too or just the vm?

edit - you dont need a "thin" install, you need a lightweight resources install so in your case i think light removals only and a f-ton of tweaks might be your best option for your vm.

whats the program in your vm, does it need networking? what does it have to have?

Heres my services disable preset 175 services disabled, no errors with installing, if you want to use anything like system restore you just have to enable those services tied to those features, or I use ntlite switch to extract current services and settings from current install and then can easily swap back to default services

The host does not use Windows.

re: lightweight resources — you are correct. I was mainly interested in the services/tweaks part of MT_'s preset.

The program in question is a CAD/CAE suite, I'm not sure exactly what does it need (but networking and SMB are on the list).

If you are comfortable with default windows, here is my full settings section and post install (WIP) as this is something Ive been looking into and learning about but should give you a start in any case, here is 535 settings and almost 40 post startup items (I gain about 20-30 fps boost in game (CSGO 532fps def - 562fps after tweaks) just using the power settings area of my post install compared to a default windows install
