Hotfix KB4598242 (januari 13 2021 release) - Removes Flash is the official statement, but it also installs MS Edge ...

They also define the following registry key:

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Uninstall\Microsoft Edge
NoRemove=0x1

I tried this after changing NoRemove to 0x0:

"C:\Program Files (x86)\Microsoft\Edge\Application\85.0.564.67\Installer\setup.exe" --uninstall --verbose-logging --system-level --force-uninstall --delete-profile

It removed MS Edge !

Microsoft is playing the Cat and Mouse game ENFORCING MS Edge ...

if you are on v20H2, the Enablement Package KB4562830 is what install MS Edge

After KB4598242 was installed, MS Edge appeared again ... It also does nothing with the policy to not show a desktop icon ...

The paths of Windows updates are unfathomable - whether you like it or not, the new MS EDGE will be forced on all Windows 10 users to replace the "old" EDGE browser, as a first choice, while IE will probably be removed quietly. Maybe not with 21H1 which has been announced to be an upgrade package for 2009 in the style of the Enablement package from 2004 to 2009, as abbodi86 states. Windows 21H2 looks to be the new Windows 10 installation with EDGE integrated and will probably be made removable in NTL sooner or later. You can run your preset again on a live install and remove MS EDGE (CHROMIUM) under Network in the Components section. Windows update places the latest update files under the \ Windows \ servicing \ LCU folder - you must close the MoUSO Core Worker Process in Taskmgr before you can delete the latest update package that is placed there and be able to go back before updating and in the same time you delete the overview of installed updates in Settings - Windows Update - see updates. In 19042,789 the updatepackage gradually amounts to approx. 900 mb.

C:\ProgramData\USOPrivate\UpdateStore - the file "Store" is the right file to delete if the list of updates want to be cleaned after closing MoUSO Core Worker Process in Taskmgr. The STORE file keeps track of Windows updates installed (incl. drivers) instead of the old way deleting everything in C:\Windows\SoftwareDistribution.
