In a cumulative update for Windows 10 Microsoft forcefully reset the mode of the taskbar seach box, also affecting images with the update integrated.
NTLite already has a workaround for this by setting the registry value again after account creation, but that is rather hacky and doesn't behave nicely.
Since I was bothered by the behaviour of the current implementation I was looking for a cleaner way of doing it and found that setting HKEY_CURRENT_USER\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Search\OnboardSearchboxOnTaskbar to 1 will prevent the search box mode from being overwritten.
I would appreciate if this better method could be implemented into NTLite directly.
