I know this is a stupid question, but..

If I use Host Refresh to update a machine (because the latest CU is failing to apply), do I have to worry about reintegrating updated drivers, or will it just reuse the existing installed drivers? Eg, if I don't integrate them, it won't downgrade them, will it?

Host refresh is about restoring features or components which have been removed from a live system's image. NTLite compares the host's components list against the preset, and only restores what's missing (different).

- If you have the same components on the list, but a newer version, there is no need to overwrite what's locally installed.
- If you're missing a component, the image's version of that component is installed.

Translated:
If you removed a driver, you get back the ISO's version. If you kept all the drivers, whatever existing version is present doesn't get touched. There is no possibility of a downgrade of any component.

After performing a host refresh, it's possible that the next run of Windows Update will find something it wants to update because your restored component from the image is older than what's currently available in the Monthly Update.

Can host refresh be used to remove components from a live build? I want to remove defender and some other things but i do not want to do a fresh install. I'm just wondering if this can be done, thanks.
