Is it possible to create a fully functional Windows 10 install media out of an .esd image file?

Good Evening,

Since a long time, I'm trying to figure out how to create a fully functional install media (.iso file for USB drives and DVD discs) for W10 from a raw install.esd image file - the reason for that is, that these .esd versions are often more up to date builds than the initial W10 .iso images that are provided by Microsoft.

For example, the initial 20H1/2004 version of W10 that is usually available for download (MCT, Techbench) has the build number 19041.264, while the most actual upgrade .esd version has the build number 19041.450, so it's more up to date:

Win10_2004_German_x64.iso - build version 19041.264
19041.450.200808-0726.vb_release_svc_refresh_CLIENTBUSINESS_VOL_x64FRE_de-de.esd - build version 19041.450

Unfortunately, I just cannot get any .esd image to work - already when mounting, NTLite immediately gives the note that the file is an "isolated image", hence, not suitable for the creation of install media. And if I still try to generate an installation image anyway with NTLite, running Windows Setup from that image fails immediately with a BSOD:

"The application or operating system couldn't be loaded because a required file is missing or contains errors

0xc0000225
("file system32\boot\winload.efi") "

An important question beforehand: do I necessarily need WinLib decryptor in order to make a working install media from an .esd image or is NTLite on it's own enough?

Thanks for Advise,

hi you can get latest up to date iso with any lang from here https://uupdump.ml/
and make any change via ntlite as usual

it will be downloaded as wim if you don't check for esd compression. btw ntlite should be able to revert esd back to wim. i think there is another problem with your system?
